As a Senior Specialist, Downstream Continuous Improvement and Investigations at Cenovus Energy, you will play a crucial role in applying continuous improvement methodologies across critical asset processes. Your expertise will help integrate these methodologies into everyday work processes, ensuring balanced, efficient solutions for safe, compliant, and reliable operations. Preference given to individuals who currently reside in or can relocate to the Ohio area

What you’ll do:

• Lead the integration of continuous improvement (CI) and investigative practices into downstream operations, aligned with the Operations Excellence (OE) model.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Technical & Projects, HSSE, and other stakeholders to standardize and embed CI methodologies.

• Develop and implement a CI capability program, including training, competency development, and coaching across operating sites.

• Conduct site reviews to assess CI maturity, identify gaps, and drive corrective actions through structured problem-solving.

• Lead or support root cause investigations to identify systemic issues and implement preventative measures.

• Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor progress, effectiveness, and sustainability of CI efforts.

• Champion knowledge sharing through leadership networks, fostering alignment and adoption of best practices.

• Support talent development by mentoring teams and promoting a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence.

Who you are:

• 20+ years of experience in downstream refining operations

• 5+ years of focused experience applying CI and investigative expertise in an industrial setting

• Proven leadership in driving transformational change and cross-functional initiatives

• Experience in a major downstream operating company
