Job Description

Blue Cross NC is looking for a highly organized and proactive Senior Specialist, Administrative Assistant to provide critical support to leaders and teams by managing daily workflows, coordinating meetings and departmental activities, supporting projects, preparing reports, and helping ensure priorities are handled efficiently and accurately. In this role, you’ll use strong judgment, attention to detail, and follow-through to keep operations moving smoothly while serving as a trusted partner across the department.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee Leader’s workflow including mail, calendar, correspondence, and telephone calls, determining priorities, preparing responses, and/or responding appropriately without errors and in a timely manner.

  • Support Leader and other staff by scheduling, planning, and attending meetings as necessary.  Provide support to include expense reporting and travel planning.

  • May act as coordinator of departmental projects, following up on pending details, coordinating project team activities and ensuring deadlines are met.

  • Exercise considerable discretion and independent judgment and analyzes complex information request and determines complex trends.

  • Maintain distribution lists and organizational charts.

  • Coordinate activities and events in support of the department.

  • Coordinate departmental moves and serve as liaison for IT services and upgrades.

  • Assemble and analyze information to facilitate decision making.  Prepare special or one-time reports, summaries, or replies to inquiries, selecting relevant information from a variety of sources such as reports, documents, correspondence, other offices, etc., under general directions.

  • Support departmental budget processes which could include running reports, simple budget analysis, and/or budget entries.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or GED

  • 5+ years of experience in related field.

  • Provides high-level administrative support to the VP, CFO Health Plan, managing priorities, communications, and daily operations.

  • Manages complex executive calendars, meetings, and schedules across senior leaders and key stakeholders.

  • Handles highly confidential information with discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment.

  • Delivers white-glove executive travel support, coordinating complex domestic travel, accommodations, transportation, registrations, and itineraries.

  • Anticipates travel and scheduling needs, proactively resolving changes, disruptions, and urgent requests.

  • Creates executive-ready presentations, reports, and meeting materials using PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote.

  • Utilizes advanced Excel skills, including reporting, data analysis, formulas, and pivot tables.

  • Maintains organized documentation, meeting notes, and project tracking in OneNote.

  • Demonstrates proficiency with Outlook, Word, Teams, and SharePoint.

  • Exhibits exceptional organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.

  • Communicates effectively with a strong customer-service focus and executive presence.

Where You’ll Work

Our Hybrid Flex approach is built on presence with a purpose – giving you flexibility to work remotely with intentional in-person connection – that supports a workplace that’s flexible, connected, and future focused.

In a Hybrid-Flex role, you’ll work in the office at least two days a week for collaboration and connection. In a Remote Flex role, you’ll work virtually, with a few in-office visits each year for meaningful moments that matter.

Whether your role is Hybrid Flex or Remote Flex depends on the nature of the work and distance from our Durham headquarters. We welcome candidates from outside the local area and in any states listed on this job posting. Onsite expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Salary Range

At Blue Cross NC, we take great pride in a fair and equitable compensation package that reflects market-price and our starting salaries are typically planned near the middle of the range listed. Compensation decisions are driven by factors including experience and training, specialized skill sets,  licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. Our base salary is part of a robust Total Rewards package that includes an Annual Incentive Bonus*, 401(k) with employer match, Paid Time Off (PTO), and competitive health benefits and wellness programs. 

*Based on annual corporate goal achievement and individual performance.
 

$55,370.00 - $88,592.00
