As a Commercial Solar Engineer at Redaptive, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and optimizing energy-efficient systems and solutions to ensure the successful execution of our energy-efficiency technology solutions. Your primary focus will be leading the successful implementation of solar, storage, and BESS projects, harnessing innovation to propel us into a greener future.
As the Commercial Solar Engineer, you will lead and manage a team of solar engineers overseeing local and international talent, including a dedicated team based in India. The role includes implementing best practices in technologies and costs across all sizes of solar, storage, and BESS projects and for industrial and commercial facilities. You will manage multiple aspects of the development process and utilize a network of partners and sub-contractors to implement projects.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or renewable energy engineering), a deep understanding of energy systems, and a passion for driving innovation in energy efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of solar engineers, including a dedicated team based in India.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and direction to ensure seamless collaboration and achievement of project goals.
- Foster a positive team culture, promote professional development, and coordinate cross-functional efforts to achieve solar, storage, and BESS project implementation success.
- Assist sales and product teams in evaluating the technical viability of proposed solar sites.
- Manage detailed layout design process for Redaptive’s development pipeline (preference for the ability to generate bid packages and site plans using CAD and other design tools).
- Utilize energy production modeling software (Helioscope, PVBid, PVsyst, Aurora, etc.) to prepare energy production estimates.
- Leads review of customer proposals and opportunity analysis (using a combination of tools including Excel, EnergyToolbase, Design software, and additional proposal tools).
- Manage distribution interconnection process and interface with utilities/regional transmission operators for development portfolio (significant interconnection experience across multiple geographies preferred).
- Provide technical support to the project development team for permitting efforts and customer relations.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with solar EPCs, technology providers, OEMs, and O&M providers.
- Interface with solar module, inverter, and racking providers to obtain technical information and stay apprised of technology advancements, pricing, and market trends.
- Evaluate and approve the selection of installation vendors and technologies and manage the Approved Vendor List.
- Develop scopes for technical services and manage relationships with contractors and third-party engineering firms.
- Collaborate with third-party experts to identify key trends in the industry.
- Evaluate project siting constraints, solar module, inverter, racking technologies, and solar resource data to maximize project value.
- Conduct or coordinate site visits to support site evaluation, suitability, and due diligence efforts.
- Provide technical support to project finance and credit committees during the project financing process.
- Drive enterprise value by identifying opportunities to optimize spend, eliminate redundancy, improve performance, and mitigate risks.
- Acts as a liaison between Procurement, Commercial Product, Sales, and Delivery to ensure best practices are applied.
- Plans and coordinates engineering activities to develop and apply standardized proposal criteria and requirements for parts, equipment, and labor used in solar, storage, and BESS projects and programs.
- As required, organize and manage Solar Request for Proposal (RFP) to Redaptive vendors.

Qualifications/ Requirements
- 5 - 7+ years of experience identifying, developing, and proposing solar, storage, and BESS projects for commercial, industrial, or higher education projects across the US and Canada.
- Prefer a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy or similar field. PE is a plus.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with similar storage and renewables technologies is a plus.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate to all levels of the organization.

- Expected annual salary: $134,000 - $155,000 (subject to adjustment for relevant experience, skills, geo location)
- Annual bonus target: 15% of base pay earnings, subject to company and individual performance
