We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Packager with strong expertise in macOS and Windows software packaging and scripting to support enterprise application deployment across managed endpoints. This role is responsible for designing, building, testing, and maintaining reliable, secure, and user-friendly software packages for Windows and macOS devices managed through Microsoft Intune and Jamf Pro. The engineer will work closely with Endpoint Engineering, Security, and Operations teams to ensure smooth deployments, minimal user disruption, and compliance with enterprise standards. The position serves as a technical authority for application packaging, complex troubleshooting, and scripting automation.
Key Responsibilities:
Software Packaging & Deployment
Create, maintain, and optimize software packages for Windows and macOS endpoints
Package applications using formats such as EXE, MSI, MSIX, IntuneWin, PKG, DMG, and shell-based installers
Ensure packages are optimized for silent install, upgrade, uninstall, and rollback scenarios
Validate packages across OS versions and device types prior to production deployment
Endpoint Management & Tooling
Deploy and manage packaged applications using Microsoft Intune and Jamf Pro
Support application lifecycle management including new releases, updates, and retirements
Work with Intune and Jamf policies to ensure consistent and compliant application delivery
Scripting & Automation
Develop and maintain automation scripts using:
PowerShell (Windows)
Bash / Zsh (macOS)
Use scripting to manage pre‑install checks, post‑install validation, error handling, and remediation
Assist with packaging automation and detection logic improvements
Troubleshooting & Support
Troubleshoot failed installations, upgrades, and compliance issues across macOS and Windows
Analyze logs and diagnostics from Intune, Jamf, and endpoint devices
Provide Tier‑3 supports for complex application deployment issues
Security, Compliance & Documentation
Follow secure packaging best practices to ensure applications meet enterprise security standards
Collaborate with Security teams to address vulnerabilities and compliance requirements
Create and maintain packaging documentation, standards, and operational runbooks
Ensure packaging activities align with ITSM and change management practices
Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or strong hands‑on experience
5 - 8+ years of overall IT experience
5+ years of specialized experience in Windows and macOS application packaging
Experience supporting enterprise‑scale deployments using Intune and/or Jamf
Scripting proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or Zsh
Experience with application detection rules, dependencies, and requirement checks
Working knowledge of Windows Registry, services, file system, and macOS equivalents
Attention to detail and quality in packaging standards
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills:
Relevant certifications or practical experience in endpoint management and scripting
Familiarity with Apple Business Manager
Note - The role requires working in UK business hours. Rotational shifts may be required based on business needs.
Compensation
The salary range provided in this job posting is intended to reflect the general market value for the position. The actual salary offered may vary based on factors such as the candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and the specific requirements of the role. This range may also be subject to change as market conditions evolve. We encourage open communication throughout the interview process to discuss compensation expectations. For base-salary + commission sales roles, the range represents On-Target Earnings.
