Job DescriptionAbout the role
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join SEEK and help us build products and platforms that deliver real value to our candidates, hirers and internal teams across APAC.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be a key technical contributor and leader within your squad. You’ll own and evolve critical services, improve the health and reliability of our platforms, and help shape technical direction. You’ll work in a cross-functional squad, collaborating with engineers, product and design to deliver user-centric, reliable and scalable software, while mentoring others and lifting the overall engineering quality of the team.
About the team
Online Identity sits at the heart of SEEK's hirer and candidate experiences. We build and run the secure login, registration and account capabilities that people use every time they interact with SEEK. We're two tightly connected teams, Online Identity Experience and Online Identity Services, working as a tribe. Experience owns the customer-facing flows and journeys; Services provides the identity platform, tools and frameworks that other SEEK teams rely on to authenticate users and protect their data.
Many of our systems are mission-critical, and we partner closely with Auth0 to design and operate secure, scalable and highly available solutions. It's a great place to deepen your expertise in Auth0 and modern identity management while solving complex problems that are core to SEEK's products and platform.
We're a collaborative, product-minded engineering team that values ownership, pragmatism and continuous learning. When we do our job well, every SEEK customer has a seamless and secure experience, and dozens of teams can ship features with confidence.
Key responsibilities
Build
- Lead and contribute to the design, build, testing, deployment and maintenance of software from development through to production.
- Take ownership of the health, reliability, resilience and efficiency of key platforms and services.
- Design and implement solutions using modern engineering practices, patterns and architectures that are fit for purpose and scalable.
- Ensure software is built in alignment with SEEK’s technology strategy, architectural guidelines and existing frameworks.
- Work effectively within and help improve the team’s DevOps environment, including CI/CD and observability.
- Lead and participate in troubleshooting and incident response, driving issues through to resolution and learning.
- Develop cloud-first software (and mobile apps where applicable), leveraging appropriate cloud services and capabilities.
Execute
- Consistently write and review clean, well-tested, secure and maintainable code, using current patterns and tooling.
- Collaborate closely within your squad to plan, deliver and operate high quality software, influencing scope and trade-offs.
- Play an active role in Agile rituals and practices (stand-ups, planning, refinement, retros), helping the team continuously improve.
- Champion and apply secure coding practices and standards in all development work.
- Communicate in a timely, clear and empathetic way with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Foster a DevOps culture through collaboration, automation, and continuous improvement of build, deployment and monitoring practices.
- Deeply understand your customers, their needs and the business context, and use this to shape technical decisions and priorities.
Lead & support
- Mentor and coach other engineers, providing constructive feedback and helping them grow their skills and impact.
- Lead or significantly contribute to technical discovery, design discussions and decision-making, documenting and sharing outcomes.
- Contribute to onboarding of new team members and help create an inclusive, supportive team environment.

- Is highly proficient working in cloud-based environments and modern DevOps practices.
- Has a track record of leading technical delivery, making sound architectural decisions and owning services end-to-end.
- Enjoys mentoring and supporting other engineers, and contributing positively to team culture.
- Communicates effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, influencing outcomes with data and clear reasoning.
- Is strongly customer-focused, with a passion for building user-centric, reliable and scalable solutions.
- Embraces learning, feedback and continuous improvement, and helps others do the same.
