About the role | He Aha Te Tūranga
As the Senior Software Developer, you are responsible for the analysis, design, development and support of applications to support a range of business needs.
You provide thought leadership on how best to maximise the use of bespoke software so that nib has a healthy return on investment through software solutions that are cost effective, modern and fit for purpose.
Key responsibilities will include:
Collaborate with business, UX and architecture teams to deliver well designed, high quality applications
Ensure application performance, documentation, testing and design standards are met
Drive quality through automation, monitoring and proactive issue identification
Provide 2nd level and on call production support, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis
Maintain strong change management, technical documentation and disaster recovery processes
Embed security best practices and continually assess and address vulnerabilities
Seek continuous improvement in application quality, performance and processes
About you | Ko Wai Koe
We’re looking for a developer experienced in modern languages and a focus on C#, with strong skills in JavaScript frameworks like React or AngularJS. You’ll work across contemporary web technologies and frameworks, bringing a solid understanding of how modern web applications are designed and built.
You’ll have hands-on experience with relational databases such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL or DynamoDB, along with an architectural mindset and a strong grasp of core software engineering principles.
We’re seeking someone who values quality and best practice—someone who embraces automated testing, continuous integration and continuous delivery, and is committed to building reliable, scalable solutions.
Furthermore, we’re looking for:
Degree qualification in relevant IT discipline
Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to take ownership, prioritise, meet deadlines and escalate
Ability to mentor and coach less experienced developers
Strong business acumen, finding pragmatic solutions to problems and raising opportunities
Experience or exposure to cloud services, AWS or Azure in particular (desired)
Experience with ORMs such as NHibernate or Entity Framework (desired)
Experience with NoSQL databases (desired)
Experience with automated testing and mocking frameworks (desired)
Exposure to Scrum or other Agile development methodology (desired)
Experience writing native JavaScript (desired)
Experience with modern CSS language features (desired)
Exposure to development of mobile applications (desired)
