The Senior Software Engineer codes software applications based on business requirements. The Senior Software Engineer work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise data solutions utilizing Oracle databases and Databricks platforms. This role requires strong expertise in data engineering, advanced SQL, and cloud-based analytics, as well as the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions.

The Senior Software Engineer standardizes the quality assurance procedure for enterprise data. Oversees testing and debugging and develops fixes. Research complaints and makes necessary adjustments and/or recommendations to resolve complex data related issues. Begins to influence department’s strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize ETL pipelines using Databricks and Snowflake.
  • Design, implement, and support database objects in Oracle.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to support advanced analytics and reporting initiatives.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and security across platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to data ingestion, transformation, and storage.
  • Participate in code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and promote best practices in data engineering.
  • Support migration and modernization projects involving cloud technologies and big data platforms.
  • Document technical processes and maintain up-to-date project documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software engineering or data engineering roles.
  • Proven expertise in Oracle database development (PL/SQL, performance tuning, data modeling).
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure ).
  • Strong proficiency in ETL processes, SQL, and scripting languages (Python, PySpark).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with large-scale data migration and integration projects.
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance standards.
  • Understanding of Agile development methodologies.

Work-At-Home Requirements

To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria:

At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested
Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.
Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$106,900 - $147,000 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
