Summary Generated by Built In

LGT Wealth Management was formed around a clear and uncompromising vision – to bring global best practice in building institutional quality investment portfolios to Australian clients.

With a shared passion for building an uncompromised business – we created something new from the ground up. A chance to leave behind the things that weren’t working, while enhancing the things that were. Our authentic and personalised client-first commitment. Our entrepreneurial spirit. Our focus in best-in-class advice. And our intimate understanding of the Australian private wealth landscape.

In 2022 we became a part of the LGT Group, who shared our entrepreneurial spirit, long-term approach and private-ownership model. Today, with the global expertise, stability, and capability of LGT behind us, we can work without being reliant on markets or margins, with a singular focus on giving our clients the advice and deep expertise they need for generations to come.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Software Engineering team within the broader Platform function. This role plays a critical part in shaping the technology landscape that supports our client experience, operational excellence, and long‑term strategic growth.

You will work closely with software engineers, application support specialists, project managers, product owners, business analysts, and other technical professionals across the Chief Operating Officer’s group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build best-practice solutions and processes based on complex business requirements, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals.

  • Customise the Avaloq Core Platform functionalities, with a focus on AvaloqScript (ACP parameterisation), to meet the unique needs of our business and clients.

  • Share responsibility for the Avaloq codebase, refining and enforcing development best practices and concepts.

  • Support solution designs and review of new features, ensuring they align with system requirements and business needs.

  • Champion unit testing and build automated testing capabilities for everything you develop, ensuring high-quality releases.

  • Provide operational guidance to application support specialists, including incident management triage, release/change management, and system monitoring using tools.

  • Identify risks associated with changes made to the platform, communicating their implications to non-technical stakeholders clearly and effectively.

  • Actively participate in agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, retrospectives, prioritisation, and demos, to support continuous improvement.

  • Play back technical concepts in demos to business stakeholders in a relatable manner, bridging the gap between business and technology.

  • Develop deep technical knowledge across multiple functional business areas within the Avaloq Core Platform.

  • Support and lead efforts to influence consistent solution design, development, change management, and agile principles across the platform team.

  • Enforce and support technical audits wherever required, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards.

  • Support the Quality Assurance team with the capability to define, implement, and maintain an automated testing suite for the Avaloq Core Platform.

Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience in Avaloq development across multiple domains, including support of the Avaloq environment and codebase is required.

  • Experience working in the financial services industry, with a strong understanding of wealth management products and services (e.g., portfolio management, trading, settlement, payments, reconciliations, corporate actions).

  • Understanding of technologies like PL-SQL, Oracle SQL is a must.

  • Knowledge of Avaloq RMWP Parameterisation, HTML, CSS, Angular, TypeScript, Java, J2EE, JDBC, SOAP, JavaScript, and Ergon or similar Web Application Firewall, Elasticsearch/Kibana, OpenShift/Kubernetes or monitoring/alerting tools such as Prometheus/Grafana is a bonus.

  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and a strong understanding of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process, including advocating for the use of tooling such as Confluence and Jira.

  • Proven ability to support incident management, release management, and system monitoring in an enterprise environment.

Role Competencies

  • Ability to mentor and guide other engineers, fostering a culture of best practices.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with a logical and methodical approach to tasks.

  • Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in all tasks.

  • Ability to manage changing priorities and work in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Certification as an Avaloq Certified Professional (ACP) is required.

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field.

  • Agile certifications are highly desired.
