The RHEL Virtualization team is responsible for all aspects related to Virtualization in the Red Hat Enterprise Linux, including system, firmware, and device emulation, as well as their counterpart aspects in the guest instance on top of Red Hat or third-party virtualized platforms. In this role, you will design, implement, test and automate deployment tools and solutions, contributing to industry-leading technologies like Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization and community distribution such as CentOS Stream and Fedora.

What will you do:
Design and develop code to implement new features and resolve defects primarily in KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) and QEMU (machine emulator and virtualizer) across versions of RHEL and upstream open source community projects.
Actively contribute to and collaborate with teams enabling new features in Red Hat layered products across virtualization and container solutions.
Engage actively in the open source community and review patches and provide feedback on community-oriented enhancements and bug fixes.
Develop and contribute tests into a continuous integration (CI) workflow.
Work effectively as part of a distributed, agile team.
What will you bring:
5+ years of relevant experience in system-level software development for Linux using C or C++. Rust experience is a plus.
Development experience in the Linux Virtualization stack (KVM, QEMU), particularly in areas like Memory management, IOMMU, device assignment or other similar low-level subsystems.
Strong knowledge of operating systems and computer architecture concepts.
Strong system level debugging skills
Ability to use CI/CD technologies in authoring, building, and automating secure software supply chains.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree is beneficial.
Considered a plus
Experience with multiple hardware platforms (e.g., x86, ARM64, s390x, RISC-V).
Understanding of open-source development processes and/or a history of active open-source contributions.
Prior experience of speaking at conferences, or publishing technical blogs/articles, and patents.
