About the Role
You will work with a team of domain and carrier management system experts to design, build and continually improve an integrated, end-to-end system that transforms how international container shipping companies operate. As a member of our team, your expertise will contribute to the successful development and deployment of mission-critical functionality for our carrier customers
Responsibilities
- Collaborating with Product Management, Business Analysis, Professional Services and Quality Assurance teams to delivery highly efficient features and functionality
- Taking ownership of a product feature and drive design, code, and feature reviews
- Ensuring the technical integrity of a development, in accordance with the clients’ requirements
- Identifying and developing solutions for bug fixes and changes to our range of applications
- Acting as a technology authority in short or long-term planning, making recommendations on technical approaches within an overall program
- Providing advanced technical support and advice to others on engagement/program during proposal writing, solution design and implementation
- Providing first-hand supervision and guidance to Software Engineers on assigned activities
- Some international travel to customers and our other offices may be required
Requirements
- BE/BTech/MCA/MSC IT preferable
- 5+ years of professional experience in software development
- Highly proficient in Java and solid understanding of full stack development
- Experience with Git version control, and hands-on experience with continuous integration systems
- Java development - Proficient in Java (version 8 or higher), confident maintaining/creating backend applications with heavy business logic.
- Microservice architecture - Experience in building and maintaining microservices (ideally Quarkus/Gradle).
- JUnit/Groovy testing - Experience testing features during development, edge cases as well as expected behaviour
- NoSQL dtabases (e.g. Mongo) – Proficient in the use of NoSQL databases
- SQL - Proficient in writing and optimising SQL queries for data management and reporting.
- Problem Solving/Debugging - Solid analytical skills for resolving production issues. Analysing logs, debugging code across microservices
- Strong knowledge/experience with Object Oriented methodologies, design patterns, application architecture
- Strong understanding of application software, scalability, performance, and reliability aspects
- Hands on experience in relational database modelling & queries
- Highly experienced with software development processes, and in particular, software design and unit/integration testing
- Experience in converting user/business requirements into technical solutions
- Highly motivated individual, who is ready to accept challenges, continually innovate, learn, and help others
- Ability to work in a fast paced, test-driven, collaborative, and iterative programming environment
- Ability to coach and mentor junior members in the team
- Ability to work with cross functional teams
- Fluent in written and spoken English
Preferred Requirements
- Experience with open-source frameworks such as Hibernate a plus
- Experience working on an offshore team of developers is a plus
- Kubernetes - Experience using Kubernetes systems
- Jasper Reports - Experience in designing reports/maintaining complex reports with custom business logic.
- Kotlin development - Competent in writing/maintaining Kotlin code ensuring clean and efficient implementation.
