Position Overview:
SealingTech is looking for an experienced and talented hands on Senior Software Engineer to join our Software Products Team. In this role, you will design, build, and scale the backend and API architecture of Operator X, our next-generation cyber defense platform.
As the Senior Software Engineer, you will serve as the lead developer for this mission-critical platform, driving its technical vision and architectural evolution. The product is in active, rapid development, adapting to new and challenging production environments. Your core responsibility will be to lead the engineering team in continuous expansion and refinement of the platform’s capabilities, driving the architectural design to enable this adaptation, from enhancing our core appliance to supporting enterprise private clouds. You will be a hands-on leader, mentoring team members, championing best practices within our Agile framework, and ensuring the delivery of a robust, secure, and mission-ready product.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive the architectural design of our containerized microservices application (FastAPI, React, PostgreSQL, Redis) to ensure scalability, resilience, and security in edge deployments and enterprise private cloud environments while staying current in the rapidly evolving AI space.
- Engage in hands-on development, code reviews, and complex problem-solving to set the standard for code quality and engineering rigor.
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
- Collaborate and partner with product managers and customers to translate mission requirements into actionable technical user stories and a well-defined roadmap.
- Champion Agile Scrum best practices, facilitate technical discussions, and ensure the team meets sprint commitments.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks, making key decisions to keep the project on track and aligned with strategic goals.
- Stay current with industry trends in backend development and scalable system design.
Minimum Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a technical lead position.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Demonstrated experience architecting and deploying RESTful APIs in production systems.
- Proven experience designing, building, and deploying containerized software applications.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies (Scrum) and associated tools (Jira, Confluence).
- Strong knowledge of the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), and Git version control.
- Strong understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and CI/CD principles.
- Hands-on experience designing on-prem distribution methods for edge and cloud deployments.
- Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs), agent-based systems, or other AI/ML application development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in cybersecurity, either security product development and/or security operations tools like Elastic, Splunk, Security Onion, etc.
- Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs), agent-based systems, or other AI/ML application development.
- Experience with system hardening and security compliance, particularly with STIGs.
- Experience in systems architecture (Windows, Linux, ESXi), network security architecture, and virtualization.
- Working knowledge of front-end technologies, specifically React.
- Experience working on cybersecurity solutions within a DoD or Federal Government context.
