Our team’s mission is to build the best-in-class Apache Flink offering for self-managed environments with Confluent Platform. We are looking for engineers who are eager to help us achieve this mission.

About the role:

As a Senior Software Engineer you will help us to deliver on well-defined tasks in service of our product and business goals. We are looking for engineers who can dive into the inner workings of Confluent Platform and learn the necessary parts of Apache Flink in order to build a fully integrated product.

• We are working on making deployment and operations of Apache Flink workloads as smooth as possible by building an integrated Flink job management platform.

• You will work with the team on the end-to-end lifecycle of Flink jobs – from deployment Flink to the ensuring performant execution on clusters. In order to achieve this goal, you will have the opportunity to work on Kubernetes operators, Java-based microservices and Apache Flink itself.

• Our mission is to ensure stable and secure Flink operations for our customers across all industries. As part of that mission, we will be providing long-term support for Apache Flink. We are building and operating a sophisticated build and verification pipeline to quickly implement, test and release our products to a number of target platforms.

• We want our customers to be successful with Apache Flink – if customers are missing features, or if our support sees frequent errors clustering around certain components, our team will work on adding those features to Flink or improving the stability of Flink.

• We want to support our customers in running their Flink workloads with confidence. Our team is the last line of defense for the internal support and field teams. You will have the opportunity to build up deep expertise about stream processing, distributed systems and Apache Flink while working here.

What We’re Looking For:-

• 2 to 6 years of hands-on software engineering experience.

• Self starters who are able to quickly ramp up on the important bits of our overall product with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Containerized deployments with Kubernetes, including custom operators and resource definitions.

  • Modern Java-based microservices.

  • Java build and release management.

  • Enterprise security.

• Basic understanding of distributed systems design and development.

• Basic understanding of systems engineering (CPU, memory, disk, network).

• Ability to move fast and iterate with a sense of urgency while delivering results without surprises.

• A growth mindset and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and take on customers problems.

• Experience working in remote-first and asynchronous work environments.

• A degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

Additional Highly Desirable Experience:-

• Experience using and/or working on data infrastructure such as SQL databases, Apache Kafka, Apache Flink or Apache Spark.

• Experience with open-source software communities (e.g. under the umbrella of the Apache Software Foundation or Cloud Native Computing Foundation).
