The Role: The Lead will be part of the development team that creates and maintains enterprise applications and functionality within the Indexes group. The Lead will work closely with cross functional teams, QA teams and other development teams to ensure a timely and high-quality delivery. You will work closely with the Indexes quant analysts to develop new index methodologies by: onboarding new sources of data, developing reusable libraries and tools, designing and maintaining the cloud infrastructure, and productionizing research models. The team is looking for forward-thinking problem solvers who thrive in a fast-paced environment. In addition to hands-on development, the Lead is responsible for mentoring the team members, providing guidance and opportunities for the team members to expand their capabilities and skills. They will have to coordinate and work with the members in a global team. We are looking for an individual that can apply discipline, create solid software products and hold their team accountable for deliverables while providing visibility into the organization.
Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and maintain the software code base of Indexes• Lead an Agile squad to evolve software solutions that meet product requirements and quality needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, schedules and adherence to Indexes goals and principles.• Analyze and review system requirements. Use requirement and other design documents to gain overall understanding of the functionality of the new or enhanced application.• Participate actively in the design, architecture and build phases, to aim at producing high quality deliverables.• Work with existing architects where appropriate.• Provide recommendations on product and development environment improvements.• Determine team staffing and training needs.• Review and maintain sprint tasks and issue tracking for products.
Requirements: • Completed Bachelor's degree in Engineering• A minimum of 8 years of experience developing software solutions• At least 2+ years as a Tech Lead/Architect• 2-3 years working on data analysis projects• Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills. Leadership qualities.• Proven mentoring and training abilities• Experience working with Agile process• Strong knowledge of Python and packages like Pandas, PySpark, Scipy, Sklearn, Django, matplotlib• Experience with Java• Hands on experience with SQL• Experience with cloud computing (preferably AWS), Hadoop, or other BigData platforms• Experience with parallel computing.• Expertise with DevOps tools (e.g. Splunk, Git, uDeploy, Jenkins, Control-M).• Experience with modern development practices in areas of product design, requirement analysis, test driven development, and test automation• Well versed with Linux operating system and commands needed for code development.• Be aware of activity in the open source world. Contributing back to open source is a big plus.
Good to Have: • Knowledge/Certification of AWS (ECS, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, Athena, Glue, Sagemaker)• Knowledge of messaging/streaming technologies• Knowledge of NoSQL databases• Knowledge of Jupyter or other interactive notebook tools• Knowledge of Machine Learning and/or AI• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerization platforms• Knowledge of web UI frameworks like Angular/React/Vue.js• Exposure to Capital Market domain (Indexes, Equities, etc.)• Prior experience in a financial services firm• CFA Claritas certification (or similar)
