Senior Software Engineer
Remote / Contract-to-hire / US-based candidates
About the Role
We’re hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build the foundational systems behind our platform. This is a hands-on individual contributor role focused on turning offline, manual debt collection and receivables workflows into scalable, secure software. You'll work closely with the CTO and product leadership to design, develop, and launch core systems that directly impact renters and property management teams across the country.
This is a high-ownership role where your experience will shape the direction of the product and engineering culture. We're a remote-first team. Our company is seed-funded. We're building in the rent collections and property payments space, working with some of the largest operators in the country.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain backend services and customer-facing applications
- Design data models and APIs to support financial workflows and payment plans
- Integrate with external systems (banks, PMSs, payment processors)
- Collaborate directly with the CTO and stakeholders to scope and ship high-impact features
- Uphold a high bar for code quality, reliability, and operational excellence
- Contribute to hiring, architecture decisions, and the growth of the engineering team
Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience
- Proven ability to own and deliver features end-to-end
- Strong backend experience (Node.js, TypeScript, or similar)
- Familiarity with modern web stacks (React, GraphQL, Postgres, AWS)
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Comfortable working in fast-paced startup environments with ambiguity
- Able to operate autonomously and bring structure to early-stage development
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with fintech, proptech, or regulatory/compliance-heavy domains
- Prior experience in a seed-stage or Series A startup
- Comfort with infrastructure-as-code and DevOps practices
- Payment API experience (Stripe, USAePay, etc)

We are leveraging Voice AI to help automate collections and LLMs to do document processing in a document heavy industry.
