Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as part of a larger architecture, engineering, development, and testing team, collaborating on the various layers of the infrastructure for a web-based planning and simulation system in coordination with DOD teams.
- Establishes software information and engineering requirements which is necessitated by the potential complexity of those software systems, which may contain millions of lines of code.
- Applies the discipline of software engineering for specific technical problems and procedures, including knowledge, tools, and methods for software requirements, software design, software construction, software testing, and software maintenance tasks.
- Operate within the DevSecOps framework to ensure continuous integration, continuous delivery, and enhanced security.
- Relates the disciplines of software engineering to the disciplines of computer science, computer engineering, management, mathematics, project management, quality management, software ergonomics, and systems engineering.
- Meet or be able to meet certification and training requirements defined in the DoD 8570.01.
- Meet or be able to meet applicable security certification requirements mandated in the Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program Manual, DoD 8570.01-M change 3.
- Work may take place at contractor site, Government site, or a combination of the two.
Qualifications/ Technical Skills
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with three years’ work experience or completed Software Development Program with four years’ work experience.
- Strong Python and Rust skills – needs to be comfortable switching between both.
- Front-end experience with React, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
- Containers & Azure Cloud – should know how to build and deploy in cloud environments.
- Data Science familiarity – not necessarily a hardcore data scientist, but should understand concepts well enough to work with models, datasets, and analytics.
- Database knowledge – SQL, NoSQL, or both. They should know their way around data storage and retrieval.
- Solid algorithms & problem-solving skills – needs to be able to break down complex problems and find efficient solutions.
- Strong language and writing skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Clearance: Must possess a Secret security clearance or be eligible to obtain one.

- Proactively identifies and addresses challenges without waiting for direction, demonstrating a strong initiative and ability to drive projects forward independently.
- Strong communicator – can work well with both developers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Good at juggling priorities – able to balance technical work with project needs.
- Team leader – can guide and mentor developers, set clear goals, and keep everyone aligned.
- Collaboration & customer engagement – must have a strong track record of working closely with the customer, project manager, and other SMEs in a collaborative manner. Needs to be comfortable gathering requirements, clarifying priorities, and ensuring the team is delivering exactly what’s needed.
