Role Overview:

A Senior Software Engineer experienced in Java and SpringBoot along with knowledge and exposure in building or working with API Gateway solutions.

About the Role:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and Spring.
• Collaborate with front-end developers and other team members to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Implement and maintain microservices architectures that are scalable, reliable, and efficient.
• Optimize application performance, focusing on speed and scalability.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code, following best practices for software development.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge with the team.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner, ensuring the stability and reliability of the backend systems.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously improve our systems.

About You:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in backend development, with a focus on Java.
• Proficiency in Java programming and the Spring Framework.
• Experience with RESTful services, SQL databases, and microservices architecture.
• Strong understanding of version control systems like Git.
• Experience with unit testing and test-driven development.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Good to have:

• Experience of cloud (desirable AWS) and familiarity with other cloud platforms like GCP or Azure is a plus.
• Experience of API Gateway development and capabilities (AWS API Gateway desirable). This will include configuring the gateway as well as undertaking development work to integrate with other enterprise key functionality (e.g. identity).
• In addition the capability to configure and define API's to empower throttling, monetisation, authentication and transformation.
• Experience in API standards and best practice. Desirably to have Open API experience as well as the use of Swagger.
• Ability to work in a centralised team and provide best practice advice and guidance to product development teams.
