About the Team
This is the central guiding principle for each member of the Rapid7 team: "What more can we do to help all of us live in a more secure world?" With this mission in mind, we've built InsightIDR, a system designed to detect when customers' environments, including networks, systems, and accounts, are under attack or may have been compromised. We have had massive success, and have thousands of customers for whom we ingest millions of events per second.
These events are enriched with contextual information and sent to both our optimised search engine and suites of intelligent detections, which alert customers if there is any indication of attack or compromise in their environment.
Our Terraform-described stack runs in AWS, coded mostly in Java, and built over a variety of data persistence and queue technologies including SNS/SQS, S3, ElasticSearch, Redis, MySQL and PostgreSQL-flavored RDS and others..
About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer your primary responsibility will be working on both this data processing pipeline and the backend services which drive our APIs. Specifically, your focus will be to:
- Design, implement, release, and monitor production code changes at massive scale in a continuous deployment fashion
- Collaborate with other teams within InsightIDR and products within Rapid7 to design integration touch points and features which span multiple development teams
- Contribute to architectural and API design decisions as our product constantly evolves
- Advise and mentor junior engineers on building a career in software development
The skills and qualities you'll bring include:
- 5+ years of experience in software development, including active or recent Java experience
- Experience with Spring and/or SpringBoot
- Experience with AWS services in particular
- Comfort with tools such as GitHub and Maven for building, storing, and reviewing code
- Experience in cloud-based architecture
- A demonstrable passion for the craft of software development
- Interest and/or experience mentoring junior engineers
- A history demonstrating a team-based approach to problem solving
- A strong sense of ownership and responsibility for the quality of the software you create
