Overview 

 

As a Senior Software Engineer at Litera, you will be part of a dynamic team that is passionate about driving innovation in the legal technology space. You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge tools and collaborate with industry experts to deliver solutions that make a real difference in the legal profession. 

 

We are seeking an experienced engineer with a strong background in .NET / C#, SQL, and cloud services development to deliver world-class software solutions to our customers, primarily focused in the area of information governance. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering high-quality, data-driven applications and services. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Execute the design, development, testing, and delivery of scalable customer-facing applications and services 

  • Deliver clean, thoroughly documented, and extensible code, adhering to defined Litera engineering standards for quality, security, and scalability 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product Management, Quality Engineering) to complete tasks 

  • Operate as a source for expert level knowledge of modern software development techniques and methodologies 

  • Perform thorough code reviews, providing guidance to fellow software engineers in the design, development, testing and deployment of the .NET / C# based applications and services 

  • Take ownership of product features from estimates to design and development 

  • Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, including work item refinement, code reviews, testing, and deployment processes 

  • Actively participate in Litera’s Agile methodology and culture of continuous improvement by employing new practices to increase the efficiency and quality of the development process 

  • Manage individual task priorities, estimates, deadlines, and deliverables, while meeting or exceeding key performance and quality metrics as defined and communicated by leadership  

  • Employ strong patterns of unit and integration testing to meet organization test coverage goals 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • 5-8+ years of software development experience with excellent C# and TypeScript/JavaScript coding skills 

  • 4+ years of experience with the following technologies: 

  • .NET/.NET Core, ASP.NET Core, Web/REST APIs 

  • HTML5/CSS 

  • 3+ years of experience with the following technologies: 

  • SQL and Entity Framework experience 

  • Client-side web frameworks such as Knockout, React, Angular, or Vue.js 

  • Unit testing frameworks, such as NUnit, XUnit, or Microsoft Test 

  • A bachelor's Degree is required in Computer Science or Information Technology or Computer Engineering or Computer Information Systems

  • Experience developing software using Microsoft Visual Studio, GitHub, Jira and/or Azure DevOps 

  • Direct experience and a demonstrated understanding of one or more frontend frameworks, such as React, Agular, or jQuery 

  • Exceptional foundational experience in HTTP, REST, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS 

  • Direct experience and a demonstrated understanding of the backend development of services, business logic layers, and data layers, leveraging C#, .NET, and SQL 

  • Strong understanding of the Scrum Framework and developing in a Gitflow branching model 

  • Demonstrated understanding of how developed software participates with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes 

  • Experience leveraging foundational and custom GPT language models. 

  • Experience leveraging agentic AI and AI coding assistants. 

  • Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a track record of building positive relationships 

 

Preferred Skills 

  • Experience with Single Page Application (SPA) frameworks 

  • Microsoft Azure or cloud-native development, leveraging Azure DevOps, SQL Azure, Azure Service Fabric, Azure Storage, Azure Key Vault 

  • Experience with containerization, including Docker and Kubernetes (AKS) 

  • Knowledge of compliance, security, and defensive coding best practices (e.g. OWASP Top 10, SOLID design principles) 

  • Certifications demonstrating an in-depth working knowledge in any of the above stated Qualifications 

  • Azure Container Services, SQL Azure, Azure Storage, Azure Key Vault, Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Cosmos DB. 

  • Knowledge of generative AI concepts and frameworks. 

  • Experience with prompt engineering. 

  • Experience using vector databases, text embeddings, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).

 California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, or Washington residents is $115,000 to $145,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Litera offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
