The Sr Engineer – Software team member will design, implement and test high-quality vehicle HMI software. The team member must be able to write embedded C/C++ using multiple graphical frameworks with a focus on UI/UX. The team member will be an integral part of multiple projects and responsible for peer reviewing others software.
YOUR IMPACT:
- Under supervision, perform engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh, as well as general industry, engineering standards and processes.
- Support more senior engineers in the preparation of plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
- Responsible for a project or part of a project of limited complexity.
May be responsible for managing multiple projects. - Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.
- Provide guidance or mentorship to entry level engineers, designers, or technicians working on a common project.
- Ability to write high-quality, maintainable, object-oriented C++ software.
- Responsible for quality conscious design including cost and reliability.
- Participate in peer reviews, estimation, and other engineering activities.
- Follow defined CMMI level 3 procedures in the writing of software.
Use reasonable foresight to identify vehicle operation and maintenance risks, and control them within acceptable levels. - Write requirements and design documentation.
- Ability to travel off-site to support engineering projects.
- May require up to 10% of working days per year of off-site support.
- Develop detailed requirements and track changes to them.
- Develop comprehensive test plans to verify safety and reliability of electronic systems.
- Conduct testing across multiple platforms, in both simulation and real-world use cases.
- Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical subject matter.
Develop and peer review software. - Process engineering information through CMMI level 3 procedures and software safety process.
- Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.
- Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
- Establishes priorities for work delegated to others.
- Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Regular attendance is required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with three (3) or more years of related experience.
STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:
- Accredited Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering.
- Familiarity with Python, Qt, SQL, embedded linux, bash scripting, J1939/CAN, and TCP/IP in addition to embedded C/C++

Pay Range:
$78,400.00 - $121,500.00
The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
