Job Overview: The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for implementing and improving our vulnerability scanning system at scale. This role requires working closely with the Research & Development team to translate requirements into highly effective scanning solutions. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with vulnerability scanning tools, deployment using Kubernetes, and expert-level proficiency in Python, with additional experience in Golang. A deep understanding of network protocols, attack vectors, and internet architecture is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Development: Implement and enhance the vulnerability scanning system by taking R&D team requirements and turning them into scalable and robust solutions.
- Tool Optimization: Leverage and develop vulnerability scanning tools, ensuring they are optimized for performance and accuracy at scale.
- Kubernetes Deployment: Understanding of containerized software development and container orchestration.
- Workflow Automation: Develop workflow-based automation to enhance the efficiency of scanning operations, optimizing for speed and reliability.
- Network and Protocol Expertise: Apply a deep understanding of network protocols, attack vectors, and internet architecture to improve scanning effectiveness and coverage.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including the R&D team, to integrate new features and improve the scanning infrastructure.
- Code Development: Write high-quality, maintainable code in Python and Golang to develop, integrate, and enhance scanning tools and infrastructure.
- Performance Tuning: Work with Site Reliability Team to continuously monitor and fine-tune the scanning system to ensure high performance and low false-positive/false-negative rates.
- Documentation: Produce and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for code, tools, and deployment procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on cybersecurity or network-related development.
- Extensive experience with vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., NMap, ZMap, Tenable, Qualys, Rapid7, Nuclei) and their development or integration at scale.
- Expert-level proficien
- cy in Python, with additional experience in Golang.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes for containerized deployment and orchestration.
- Deep understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, etc.), attack vectors, and internet architecture.
- Experience with workflow-based automation, enhancing scanning and security processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work in a distributed team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in internet-scale scanning and discovery.
- Experience with large-scale data processing and analysis.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices (CI/CD, container orchestration, monitoring).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) for deployment and scaling
