As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the development of complex features, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet customer needs and enhance security solutions. You will be involved in the design, build, and maintenance of systems for managing large data volumes and will engage with the open-source community.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will own a full life cycle of development and be a senior contributor on a team responsible for the end-to-end delivery of increasingly complex features that are correctly implemented and high quality. You will take initiative to identify and own solutions to problems, and you will partner with cross-functional teams owning requirements that take into account all parties' needs. You will act as a resource by advising and mentoring junior engineers to continue to build the technical capabilities of our teams.
About the Team
Velociraptor is a leading open source endpoint visibility tool (https://docs.velociraptor.app). The team engages with the open source community, researching and innovating novel solutions in DFIR and information security. The team also works with Rapid7's wider Insight Platform that boasts industry-leading vulnerability management, application security, cloud security, threat detection, incident response, and security automation products.
In this role, you will also have the opportunity to interact with and support our customers in real time, in their use of Velociraptor. Feeding feedback back into development of the open source tool.
Outside of your team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the broader Rapid7 engineering community, driving platform best practices and knowledge sharing, whilst also working on and contributing to open source tools and projects.
About the Role
The Senior Software Engineer is a part of our Product and Engineering team who are at the forefront of keeping our customers safe from attacks and breaches. In this role you will be focussed on helping our customers seamlessly manage their security solutions as effectively and efficiently as possible, and ensuring our products are delivering a secure experience. You will have the opportunity to further broaden your skills surrounded by a team of incredibly smart and experienced Engineers, whilst getting the opportunity to mentor others.
In this role, you will:

  • Be passionate about the development of others, always be ready to learn, and motivated to mentor others.
  • Be hands-on in the design, build, maintenance, and release of our platform offerings.
  • Design, build and manage systems ingesting and querying data volumes in excess of millions of requests per second.


The skills you'll bring include:

  • High proficiency with Golang for low level systems programming. Some familiarity with React/JS/HTML/CSS would help. Experience contributing to open source communities on GitHub or similar platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong, creative problem solving ability.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering complex solutions to customers.
  • Attitude to thrive in a high-growth, evolving environment
  • Ability to partner with others and drive toward solutions
  • A drive for continuous delivery.
