Our team is focused on building and maintaining the fiber network design tooling and supporting address systems. The Field Engineering and Operations team (FEOT) maintains the comprehensive end-to-end systems for outside plant fiber network design, design validation, signup eligibility, address data governance, and core address functions like search.
Role Description
As a Senior Software Engineer in the Field Engineering and Operations team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software components that support fiber network design and supporting address systems. In this role, you will have a clear understanding of software engineering principles and practices, and experience with a variety of programming languages and software development tools. You will have the ability to multiply your impact by leading and mentoring others on a small to mid-sized team as well as providing input on the future of GFiber’s systems.
In this role, you'll:
- Design, develop, and maintain software components that support the Field Engineering and Operations platform.
- Collaborate with other engineers to design and implement new features and functionality.
- Participate in code reviews and unit testing.
- Troubleshoot and debug software defects.
- Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure that software meets their needs.
At a minimum we'd like you to have:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7 years of software design and full stack development experience in Java, Kotlin, or similar languages.
- 4 years of experience in relational database systems and cloud infrastructure (e.g. Google Cloud Platforms (GCP), Cloud Run).
- 3 years years of experience in a team lead capacity.
It's preferred if you have:
- Experience in Spring Boot or other application platforms.
- Experience in Test-driven development (TTD) and integration testing.
- Experience writing robust server-side code and implementing scalable systems.
- Experience in debugging and developing across a complex stack (e.g. API gateways, microservices, SaaS).
- Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders and vendors to drive technical requirements.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $157,000 - $230,000 + bonus + cash award + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
