Why Is This Role So Special?  

The Senior Software Engineer will focus on improving employee and customer engagement in the senior care industry. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on development responsibilities: you will own the end-to-end software lifecycle—from requirements gathering and system design through planning, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance — working in a mix of modern and legacy systems leading modernization efforts.

What You’ll Do: 

• Maintain / modernize mission-critical linux-based applications straddling on-prem and AWS environments
• Own ongoing support as well as the design/roadmap for phased modernization (including research, requirements gathering, architecture, design, and rollout)
• Research and learn specialized legacy systems including Apache Nifi
• Operate in multiple application stacks including Python/Django/PostgreSQL and PHP/mySQL
• Manage cloud-hybrid environments covering on-prem virtual servers and AWS kubernetes
• Design and implement series of cross-app integrations with protocols including REST, SOAP, SFTP, HL7 and FHIR
• Routinely work with a core platform team of engineers, contributing technical leadership, code reviews, and support in day-to-day development work
• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, customers, and external partners to understand business needs and translate them into effective technical solutions
• Drive engineering objectives and KPIs across product delivery, team performance, software quality, and system security
• Promote a culture of clean, maintainable code and continuous improvement through refactoring, technical debt management, and adoption of engineering best practices
• Champion modern DevOps and CI/CD practices, including feature toggles, automated testing, observability (logging and monitoring), and frequent deployments
• Investigate and resolve technical issues, including authentication failures, data mapping errors, and data ingestion anomalies
• Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining code quality
• Contribute to a collaborative, respectful team environment that values learning, transparency, knowledge sharing, and accountability

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of full-stack software engineering experience, with strong hands-on Python development (Django or a comparable framework)
• PHP/Laravel experience is a strong plus—portions of our platform run on Laravel
• Proven track record with large-scale modernization – Experience with planning multi-phase modernization of mission critical legacy systems is a must
• Experience with a modern front-end framework such as React or Vue
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL/Postgres) and scalable cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS
• Hands-on experience designing and troubleshooting REST and SOAP API integrations, including flat-file and SFTP-based exchanges
• Experience with data integration and ETL tools (e.g., Apache NiFi, Snowflake, AWS S3) is a plus
• Knowledge of secure authentication and authorization standards, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and SAML
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code reviews, and modern DevOps practices
• Demonstrated ability to set technical direction, and drive performance against team KPIs (delivery velocity, code quality, security, and uptime)
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills; self-motivated and effective working independently in a remote-first environment
• Bonus: experience with healthcare data formats (HL7, FHIR, X12), EMR systems and APIs, or additional languages such as C#/.NET or Java

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Multiple video meetings each day where web camera use is required.

Schedule:

• Full time, 40 hours each week
• Monday through Friday, core business hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM locally with occasional flexibility for collaboration across time zones or to meet critical deadlines.
