Title and Summary
Senior Software Engineer
Mastercard Foundry R&D is seeking a Senior Software Engineer who is AI-native by default. This role is for an engineer who uses AI in every aspect of daily work- coding, design, planning, reviews, and ideation.
You will contribute to the development of innovative solutions, focusing on new product ideation, concept creation, and presenting solutions to various stakeholders. As a collaborative team member, you will leverage advanced AI tools and methodologies to accelerate innovation and bring products to market more rapidly, working closely with colleagues to drive impactful outcomes across Foundry and the wider Mastercard organisation.
Role & Responsibilities
- Work AI-first across the full SDLC: coding, design, planning, reviews, and innovation - Design and build Agentic AI systems (multi-agent workflows, tool-using agents, orchestration)
- Apply and evolve emerging standards such as AGENTS.md, MCP, and SKILLS
- Evaluate and select AI models with clear understanding of trade-offs (cost, latency, reliability, capability)
- Build scalable, production-ready software and integrations
- Act as an AI Developer Advocate:
- Deliver demos, thought leadership, and workshops
- Present to engineering leadership and C-suite audiences
- Stay current with AI market trends, frameworks, and emerging technologies
Required Experience
- Strong understanding of MCP, AGENTS.md, SKILLS, tool-calling patterns
- Experience with modern AI tooling such as:
- GitHub Copilot
- Claude (UI, CLI, Claude Code)
- OpenAI / Codex-style tooling
Software Engineering
- Expert experience with RESTful APIs, Web standards and related security principles.
- Java (JDK 17+ / Spring Boot), Python, Shell scripting
- Strong experience with UI frameworks such React (ideally Next.js), Angular etc. - Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, SonarQube, Prisma
