Our technology powers mission‑critical solutions across Lending, Payments and Universal Banking, supporting over 7,000 customers, including 80% of the world’s top 50 banks, in more than 110 countries.
Role Overview
We’re looking for a hands-on Senior Software Engineer to build and enhance cloud-native microservices that support mission-critical platforms. You will work closely with Solution Architects, Technical Architects, Developer Leads, and partner teams to design, develop, and deliver scalable services. This role is focused on software development, technical problem-solving, and contributing to engineering excellence while supporting and collaborating with team members.
What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)
Architecture & Design
- Design and develop Java-based microservices using Spring Boot/Spring Cloud following clean coding and microservices best practices.
- Develop and maintain REST APIs and event-driven integrations using OpenAPI/Swagger and AsyncAPI standards.
- Build and enhance event-driven solutions using Kafka/Pulsar and implement messaging patterns such as outbox and transactional messaging.
- Apply performance optimization and resiliency techniques, including retries, circuit breakers, timeouts, and asynchronous processing.
Implementation & Quality
- Develop high-quality code with strong unit, integration, and automated testing practices.
- Implement observability using logging, monitoring, tracing, and health checks.
- Follow secure coding standards and ensure compliance with security and data protection guidelines.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices.
Cloud, Platform & Delivery
- Containerize applications using Docker and deploy services on Kubernetes.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.
- Support performance testing, troubleshooting, and production readiness activities.
- Work with architects and platform teams to meet non-functional requirements such as scalability, reliability, and availability.
Collaboration
- Collaborate with architects and stakeholders to refine requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Work with internal and vendor teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Share knowledge, support team members, and contribute to technical discussions and design reviews.
What You'll Bring (Required Qualifications)
- 5–8 years of software development experience, including 3+ years building Java microservices in production environments.
- Strong experience with Java 17+, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Maven/Gradle, and RESTful APIs.
- Good understanding of Kafka and event-driven architecture concepts.
- Solid knowledge of microservices and distributed system fundamentals.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience in automated testing, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or OpenTelemetry.
- Understanding of security concepts such as OAuth2, JWT, TLS, and secure coding practices.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Experience with Vert.x or gRPC is an advantage.
Nice-to-Have (Preferred)
- Knowledge of CQRS, Event Sourcing, Temporal/Cadence, or Debezium/CDC.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, or Elasticsearch.
- Familiarity with API gateways and service mesh technologies.
- Exposure to platform engineering and internal developer platforms such as Backstage.
This version positions the role at the Senior Software Engineer level by emphasizing implementation, collaboration, and technical contribution rather than ownership of architecture strategy, organizational leadership, and expert-level mentoring.
