Job Summary
The Senior Software Engineer position is in the Global Product Engineering organization assigned to the InSight project. Iron Mountain InSight is a content services platform that provides actionable business insights and predictive analytics through Machine Learning (ML)-based classification of a company’s physical and digital information, which adds structure, context and meta-data to information to make it more usable.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing and delivering secure, highly performant microservices and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) within an Agile development lifecycle. To be successful, the candidate needs to have experience with Java and Python core backend application development and SQL databases (SQL Server or Oracle or Postgresql or MySQL).
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will:
System Design & Architecture: Participate in technical implementation discussions to balance business value, scalability, and delivery timelines using Object-Oriented Programming methodologies and design patterns.
Backend & Application Programming Interface (API) Engineering: Develop highly performant backend service functionalities and API-to-API integrations using Java (Spring Boot) and Python (Flask) with JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) formats and Structured Query Language (SQL) databases.
Full-Stack & User Interface (UI) Development: Design and build front-end service layers to support user interface needs using modern web technologies like Angular and React JavaScript.
Machine Learning & Infrastructure Scalability: Integrate Machine Learning components into microservices and collaborate with infrastructure teams to implement highly scalable, distributed systems.
Cloud Deployment & Quality Assurance: Utilize Docker containerization to build application images for deployment across Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft Azure, while writing unit tests with a test-driven mindset and debugging performance issues.
What You’ll Bring
The ideal candidate will have:
3–5 years of experience in backend application development utilizing Object-Oriented Programming, Java, Python, Docker, Linux shell scripting, and Structured Query Language (SQL) development.
3–5 years of experience with cloud service providers like Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or Microsoft Azure, specifically across storage, compute, and Kubernetes services.
Strong knowledge of server-oriented architectures, web platform applications, Application Programming Interface (API) gateways, and integration with Representational State Transfer (REST) services.
Proven ability in developing and deploying scalable Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) microservices, managing architectural governance, conducting security reviews, and identifying performance challenges.
Solid experience with distributed team environments and Agile Scrum methodologies utilizing tools such as Atlassian JIRA, Rally, Team Foundation Server (TFS), or Version One.
Mastery of code repositories and version control systems including Git and artifactory repositories.
Minimum Bachelor’s degree (Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, or Master of Business Administration) combined with strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
