We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Identity, Platform and Business Intelligence team, where you'll build and maintain core platform services including identity management, user management systems, and data pipelines and integrations with our data lake. You'll work on challenging distributed systems problems at scale, serving millions of users globally.

**Candidate must be located in Ontario or British Columbia and able to periodically attend in office workshops and all hands meetings.**

What you'll be doing:

  • Architect and develop identity management and user management services using AWS (Lambda, ECS/EKS, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, API Gateway).
  • Build and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Java or Python frameworks.
  • Develop event-driven architectures and microservices patterns for service-to-service communication.
  • Implement platform infrastructure components including service discovery, configuration management, and observability patterns.
  • Optimize service performance, cost, and reliability across distributed systems.
  • Design and implement data pipelines and integrations with our data lake for reliable data flow and processing.
  • Collaborate with data engineering and product teams to deliver identity and data integration solutions.
  • Establish best practices, coding standards, and design patterns for platform services.
  • Participate in architectural reviews and contribute to technical roadmap.
  • Support production environments through implementing observable software and being part of the team's on-call rotation.

Requirements
  • 5+ years professional software development experience, with 3+ years focused on identity platforms, user management systems, or data pipelines in enterprise SaaS.
  • Deep AWS platform expertise (Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, Glue) with production workload experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in either Python (FastAPI, Flask) or Java (Spring Boot) for backend services and API development.
  • Experience with Identity management standards (SAML, OIDC, OAuth 2.0) and related architectural patterns.
  • Experience with data pipeline development and data lake integration patterns.
  • Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Redshift) and non-relational databases (DynamoDB).
  • Demonstrated ability to design scalable event-driven architectures (Lambda, EventBridge, SQS, SNS) and microservices patterns.
  • Experience with AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform for infrastructure-as-code and automated deployment pipelines.
  • Track record of contributing to technical initiatives and architecture reviews in distributed systems.
    Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and DevOps tools (Datadog, New Relic, CloudWatch).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills for large-scale, distributed systems.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile methodology, and full development lifecycle experience.
  • Strong communication skills, able to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience integrating applications with common Identity and Access Management platforms and tools (e.g. Ping, Auth0, Okta) in a multi-tenant enterprise SAAS solution.
  • Familiarity with machine learning workflows and integration of ML models into data pipelines.
  • Experience with real-time streaming data processing using Kinesis, Kafka, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with Apache Iceberg, Parquet, or similar columnar formats and modern data lake architectures.
  • Understanding of data modelling techniques for both OLTP and OLAP workloads, including dimensional modelling, star/snowflake schemas, and denormalization strategies.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or technical thought leadership (blog posts, conference talks, patents).
  • Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud architectures.
