The Role
Fidelity Investments is seeking a Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about building and testing high‑quality, scalable API and web applications. You will join the Financial Planning and Advice product area, where you will apply strong software engineering and test automation expertise to design, develop, validate, deploy, and maintain mission‑critical applications supporting Financial Planning and Advice.
In this role, you will contribute hands‑on to API and UI development, automated testing, CI/CD pipeline enablement, and DevOps initiatives. You will partner closely with product, architecture, and engineering teams to ensure high standards for quality, security, performance, and accessibility. You will also help drive best practices in engineering excellence, modern testing strategies, and continuous delivery.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
6–9 years of experience in software engineering with a strong emphasis on API and web application development and test automation
Financial services domain knowledge would be a plus
Core Technical Skills
Strong experience designing, developing, and testing RESTful APIs and modern web applications
Deep expertise in automated testing frameworks for API and UI validation, including: Cypress, Playwright Rest Assured JUnit, TestNG, Maven
Experience building scalable, maintainable test automation frameworks aligned with CI/CD pipelines
DevOps & Platform Experience
Hands‑on experience with DevOps tools and pipelines (Jenkins Core, GitHub Actions, monorepos, etc.)
Experience supporting build, test, and deployment automation
Proficiency with source control and branching strategies (GitHub, Bitbucket/Stash, Sourcetree)
Cloud experience preferred, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Technology Stack & Tools
Frontend & API: Angular, Node.js, TypeScript, Java
API tooling & validation: Rest Assured, Swagger/OpenAPI, Insomnia/Bruno
Quality & observability: Xray, Chaos testing, Splunk, Datadog
Data & persistence: SQL

Engineering Excellence
Strong understanding of accessibility standards and experience building and testing accessible web applications
Focus on deployment automation, orchestration, and release health
Experience managing code branches, merges, versioning, and pipeline troubleshooting
Ability to use testing and testability principles to influence better software design, security, and defect prevention
Experience building automated coverage across unit, component, integration, functional, and performance testing layers
Modern Engineering Practices
