About the Role:
In this role, you will collaborate closely with Customer Success and Product Support teams to ensure the highest level of product quality, enabling seamless customer experiences. You will develop and maintain tools to deploy, provision and configure infrastructure used in the development and release of Redpanda Data’s line of products. Working within the Quality Engineering team, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of Redpanda's software delivery processes and practices. This is an opportunity to work closely with product and engineering leadership and teams at a fast-growing, well-funded startup.
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer in Test to join our growing Quality Engineering team. In this role, you will design and develop automated test frameworks and tools, lead testing strategies for scalable cloud infrastructure systems, and ensure our products meet the highest standards of reliability, security, and performance.
You Will:
- Test Automation & Frameworks
Design, implement, and maintain robust and scalable test automation frameworks for backend, API, CLI, and UI layers for the Redpanda Enterprise and Cloud Product - Test Strategy & Coverage
Define and execute comprehensive test strategies for complex cloud infrastructure components such as virtualization, storage, networking, and orchestration - Continuous Integration
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and contribute to faster and more reliable releases - Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with developers, product managers, DevProd, and support teams to understand features, define test plans, and ensure testability - Scalability & Performance Testing
Develop tools and scenarios to validate the performance, scalability, and resiliency of enterprise-grade systems in high-load environments - Defect Analysis & Resolution
Analyze test failures, isolate defects, and work with engineering, to drive resolution with root cause analysis - Mentorship
Mentor junior SDETs and QA engineers on best practices in test automation, tooling, and quality strategy
You Have:
- 5+ years of experience in software testing and test automation, preferably in enterprise or cloud infrastructure domains
- Proficiency in Python or Go for building automation and test tools
- Strong experience with test frameworks such as PyTest, TestNG, or similar
- Deep understanding of testing RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible)
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions and dynamic pipelines
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Familiarity with working at a fast-moving, 100% distributed engineering and product team
Nice To have:
- Experience with chaos and scale testing and deploying stateful services in Kubernetes
- Experience working with streaming engines such as Kafka or Pulsar
- Experience deploying data pipelines in the context of end-to-end system testing
