Job Description
In this role you will ensure our LEGO® bricks and molding processes can keep up with innovation, so that we can continue to provide kids with fun play around the world.
You will be part of building the architecture and shaping the team’s ways of working, directly connected to our new Smart Brick initiative. This is a unique opportunity to work across the entire manufacturing chain—from moulding to production—enabling other teams and products to thrive.
Imagine shaping systems that let millions of kids enjoy smarter, more creative play every day. If you thrive in greenfield environments, love discovery work, and enjoy making complex systems simple, this is the role for you.
Core Responsibilities
Help shape the direction and culture of a recently started, high-impact team:
- Drive the development and enhancement of our technical platform.
- Collaborate with other product teams, helping them take ownership or co-create solutions.
- Engineer systems that meet high standards of security and data privacy, aligned with LEGO Group principles.
- Engage in technical discussions with fellow engineers, experimenting with an agile mindset.
- Work closely with infrastructure and 10–15 product teams, ensuring smooth integration across the entire manufacturing chain.
Play your part in our team succeeding
This team is part of the Product Engineering Technology department, providing solutions for our engineering sectors. From designing LEGO® elements to delivering products to external partners and the supply chain, you’ll help make the entire process smarter and more efficient.
We are looking for a talented software engineer with the mindset and skills to support our exciting manufacturing capabilities, including:
- Item-level traceability
- Full process support from moulding to production
The team, established in June 2025, supports the LEGO® Smart Play agenda, specifically in Tech elements production. You will:
- Integrate systems to enable effective manufacturing
- Work on themes like traceability, line performance data, and production process management
- Spend much of your time in uncharted territory—collaborating with stakeholders to define problems and design solutions where none exist yet
- Help define how data is collected, integrated, and tracked across teams
- Lead architectural discussions and backend integration, ensuring systems are maintainable, secure, and scalable
This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of architectural direction and help shape processes and ways of working from day one.
Do you have what it takes?
You thrive on solving complex problems, collaborating across teams, and thinking in architecture from day one. You bring:
- Passion for architecture and building the best solutions
- Expertise in developing IT solutions aligned with product vision and daily operations
- Proficiency in secure, loosely coupled architecture and API-led integration, adhering to Domain-Driven Design principles
- Experience with software architecture, backend integration, and cloud infrastructure, including infrastructure as code
- Curiosity for data and integration, and a flexible, inspiring approach that values diversity
- Strong communication skills, thriving when collaborating with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to deliver solutions while shaping architecture, even in discovery-focused environments
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with agile methodologies and continuous delivery
- Experience writing unit or functional tests
- Strong cultural competence for international collaboration
- Mentoring and coaching experience, sharing knowledge across teams and communities
- Background in senior or lead engineering roles, ideally with startups or mixed environments
