Job Description

Senior Software Engineer (SS&C GIDS, Inc., Kansas City, MO): The Senior Software Engineer will analyze, design, program, and modify software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, cloud-based or Internet related computer programs. The Senior Software Engineer will use code to develop end-user applications, such as materials management, financial management, mobile apps or desktop application products. This role may interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications and will be responsible for solving a range of moderately complex problems. Specific duties will include: Adhering to Software Engineering and Information Security Controls, while exercising judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action; Utilizing current programming languages and technologies, and leveraging BDD (Behavior Drive Development)/TDD (Test Driven Development) methodologies, to write code, complete programming, and perform testing and debugging of applications; Developing and testing high velocity data services using tools like Spark, Java, Scala, Python and Junit; Supporting Machine Learning by implementing analytic and sampling jobs in Spark, MapReduce, and SQL; Performing requirements gathering for new core services and enhancing existing core services; Supporting large scale data movement and high-performance service/message-oriented architectures; Completing documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance; Leading projects of limited scope and portions of larger projects; Providing informal guidance to team members with less experience; Contributing to department objectives and outcomes as guided. Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field plus 2 years of experience in a software engineering role.

Must have: 2 years of software development experience using Java. 2 years of experience with SQL-oriented database techniques and technologies. 2 years of experience in Agile development environments. Familiarity with message brokers such as Kafka.
