In this role, you will take responsibility for building a software platform for spectroscopy from the ground up and successfully bringing it into real-world use. You will combine software architecture, requirements definition, and technical leadership to drive the development of our spectroscopy software platform. Working closely with cross-functional teams and domain experts, you will support developers in delivering a scalable, maintainable, and compliant product that creates real value.
The position is full-time and offers a hybrid working model with remote work on some days as well as on-site presence at the campus in Göttingen.

Gather, analyze, and translate complex software requirements in collaboration with Product Management and Product Development stakeholders to ensure implementable and testable product specifications
Design and develop scalable, maintainable software components using prototyping, making technology and design trade‑offs within agreed architectures (e.g. microservice-based architectures), design standards, and leading design reviews to ensure long‑term sustainability and performance of the software system
Drive and guide architectural decisions and provide technical leadership to an external development team to ensure alignment with the architecture and quality standards
Implement high‑quality, efficient, and readable code following coding standards and best practices to ensure performance, memory efficiency, and ease of maintenance
Create and maintain design, functional, and test documentation to ensure traceability, validation readiness, and knowledge continuity
Ensure that automated unit and regression tests are defined, implemented, and maintained within the established testing frameworks to enable early defect detection and stable software releases
Ensure validation of software functionality and interaction with hardware interfaces by the external development team to guarantee correct system behavior in the target operating environment
What will convince us
Completed Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a comparable technical field
Proven multi-year experience in developing complex, commercial software products, as well as expert knowledge in relevant technologies such as .NET, C#, TypeScript, and React
Strong expertise in object-oriented design and software engineering, along with experience in microservices architectures
Extensive experience across multiple phases of the software development lifecycle
Experience in developing software in regulated environments, as well as knowledge of data protection and compliance requirements in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector
Domain knowledge in spectroscopy is a plus
Strong communication skills and experience in managing external development teams
Results-oriented, structured, and self-driven way of working
Ability to collaborate effectively within a matrix organization
