Job Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer (SRE team), you will primarily focus on designing, building, and maintaining software solutions that enhance reliability across the platform. While working within an SRE-oriented environment, this role is first and foremost a hands-on software engineering position, with a strong emphasis on coding, automation, and building scalable systems.
You will work closely with other engineers to deliver highly available, observable, and resilient solutions, leveraging software development best practices to solve reliability and operational challenges.
As a member of the engineering team, you will collaborate with Infrastructure, Engineering, and Product partners to deliver robust, automated, and efficient systems. The ideal candidate brings strong software engineering expertise, problem-solving skills, and an interest in applying engineering practices to improve system reliability and performance.

Job Description and Requirements

Job Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain software solutions that improve system reliability, observability, and scalability across the platform

  • Develop automation and tooling to support system reliability, capacity planning, and incident response

  • Contribute to improving Service Level Objectives (SLOs), Service Level Indicators (SLIs), and error budgets

  • Extend and enhance CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices through engineering-driven improvements

  • Support root cause analysis (RCA) investigations and implement long-term fixes through code and automation

  • Participate in on-call rotations to support production systems and contribute to continuous improvement

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to embed SRE principles through software solutions

  • Explore and adopt new tools, frameworks, and engineering approaches to continuously improve system performance and reliability

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering roles, ideally with exposure to reliability, cloud infrastructure, or SRE environments

  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Go, Java, or C# (.NET)

  • Experience building and maintaining scalable, distributed systems (service-oriented / cloud-native architectures)

  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation, and DevOps practices

  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure (including AKS and related services)

  • Experience working in high-availability, global SaaS environments

  • Understanding of system resilience, redundancy, and disaster recovery concepts

  • Strong collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams

Nice to have: Experience with Chaos Engineering and/or AIOps

Competencies and Skills

  • Engineering-first mindset – strong focus on building solutions through code rather than manual operations

  • Automation mindset – commitment to reducing operational overhead through scripting and tooling

  • Reliability engineering concepts – understanding of SLOs, SLIs, and high-availability architectures

  • Observability & monitoring – familiarity with logging, monitoring, and alerting practices

  • Incident management – ability to contribute to incident resolution and continuous improvement

  • Problem-solving – analytical thinking and ability to troubleshoot complex systems

  • Collaboration & communication – ability to work across teams and influence stakeholders

  • Mentorship – willingness to support and guide other engineers
