This role is currently based at our Minneapolis office and will transition to our new headquarters in Dayton, MN, in 2027.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer – ServiceNow with a broad understanding of the ServiceNow ecosystem and a deep mastery of its integration capabilities. You will drive the technical roadmap for our platform, ensuring that our CMDB, Discovery, and core modules are perfectly tuned to support the business. You need to be comfortable writing complex scripts and building integrations as they are configuring platform-wide architecture while adhering to recommended best practices. You will play a pivotal role in maturing our digital transformation through sophisticated automation and tool orchestration.
What you will do at Graco
1. ITOM Visibility & Health
- Discovery: Lead the implementation and maintenance of ServiceNow Discovery across diverse environments (On-prem, Cloud, Serverless) along with Certificate Management.
- Service Mapping: Design and maintain top-down Service Maps and Tag Based Service Maps to provide visibility into business service health and dependencies.
- CMDB Governance: Configure and maintain the CMDB, ensuring data integrity through Identification and Reconciliation Rules (IRE) and Health Dashboards.
2. Integration & Automation
- API Development: Build robust integrations to connect ServiceNow with External tools like MS Teams, Active Directory, Monitoring tools, and Identity Management systems, etc.
- IntegrationHub: Utilize IntegrationHub and Flow Designer to create reusable spokes and automated cross-platform workflows.
- Mid-Server Management: Architect and manage Mid-Server clusters to support secure integrations and Discovery probes.
3. Advanced Development
- Develop sophisticated scripted solutions using JavaScript (Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, and UI Actions).
- Drive the automation of "Request to Fulfillment" cycles, reducing manual intervention through Flow Designer and complex Catalog Items.
- Mentor junior developers and perform code reviews to ensure scalability and adherence to ServiceNow best practices.
- Participate in system architecture decisions and contribute to strategic planning and governance.
- Execute all tasks throughout the software development life cycle including analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and documentation
What you will bring to Graco
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Platform Development & Engineering
- 5+ years of IT experience, with strong background in ServiceNow Development: Extensive experience across the full platform lifecycle, including design, development, and deployment of custom scoped applications and core module enhancements.
- Advanced Scripting: Mastery of ServiceNow JavaScript (Script Includes, Business Rules, UI Actions, and Client Scripts) and an understanding of the underlying Glide API.
- Modern Workflow Automation: Expertise in Flow Designer and IntegrationHub, with the ability to maintain and migrate legacy Workflows when necessary.
- User Experience: Proficiency in Service Portal development, including Widget creation, CSS, and AngularJS.
- Integration & Data Architecture
- Integration Architect: Proven success building and maintaining complex, bi-directional integrations using REST, and Scripted REST APIs.
- Connectivity Tools: Advanced knowledge of IntegrationHub Spokes, OAuth authentication, and MID Server configuration for secure enterprise connectivity.
- Data Integrity: Expert-level understanding of Import Sets, Transform Maps, and the Robust Transform Engine (RTE) to ensure high-quality data ingestion.
- Platform Stewardship & Administration
- Hybrid Mindset: Willingness to manage "Small Team" essentials, including Update Set orchestration, system clones, and platform version upgrades.
- Governance & Security: Deep understanding of ACLs, Data Filtration, and High Security Settings to maintain a secure environment.
- Health & Sustainability: Commitment to Out-of-the-Box (OOTB) functionality; experience using Instance Scan and Health Check tools to identify and remediate technical debt.
- CMDB Fundamentals: Practical experience with Discovery and the Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE) to support a healthy Configuration Management Database.
- Soft Skills for Agile Teams
- Technical Translation: Ability to partner directly with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business "asks" into scalable technical solutions.
- Documentation Discipline: Excellence in documenting technical designs and integration maps to ensure continuity within a lean team.
- ServiceNow Certifications:
- Certified System Administrator (CSA) - Required
- Certified Application Developer (CAD) - Preferred
- CIS – Discovery or CIS – Service Mapping - Preferred
Accelerators
- Experience with Cloud Management, Software & Hardware Management within the ServiceNow ecosystem.
- Familiarity with Event Management and AIOps.
- Strong understanding of ITIL frameworks (v3 or v4).

The base pay range for this position is listed below, exclusive of fringe benefits or other compensation. If you are hired, your final base hourly rate will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, competencies, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, we will also consider internal equity of our current employees. Please keep in mind that the range provided is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at or near the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.
