We are looking for an exceptional Senior Software Engineer (Search) to join our growing team. In this role, you will be involved in the design, development, and optimization of search solutions that deliver exceptional user experiences. The ideal candidate will combine strong software engineering skills with deep knowledge of information retrieval systems.
In this role, you will also be responsible to:
Build next-generation search architectures that maximize precision and recall
Design innovative relevance signals that capture subtle user preferences
Design indexing strategies that handle massive document collections efficiently
Create smart query understanding systems that decode complex user intent
Craft ranking models that learn from rich interaction data
Build robust testing frameworks to measure and improve search quality
Design clean, maintainable code that powers mission-critical search systems
Mentor teammates on search architecture and best practices
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Science, or related field
7+ years of backend engineering experience with 3+ years in search, information retrieval, or related fields
Strong proficiency in at least one programming language (Java, Python, or similar)
Hands-on experience with search engines (Elasticsearch, Solr, or similar)
Strong understanding of information retrieval concepts spanning traditional methods (TF-IDF, BM25) and modern neural search techniques (vector embeddings, transformer models)
- Experience with building LTR ("Learning-To-Rank") models.
Expertise in SQL databases and experience with NoSQL solutions
Experience with text processing, NLP, and relevance tuning
Experience with relevance evaluation metrics (NDCG, MRR, MAP)
Experience with large-scale distributed systems
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication abilities to explain technical concepts
Collaborative mindset for cross-functional team work
Detail-oriented with strong focus on quality
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Passion for solving complex search problems
