Our products are used in many challenging research fields by scientists all over the world and by leading high-tech companies worldwide. We help advance science and build the next generation of quantum computers.

Do you want to be part of a team developing control software for large systems with hundreds or thousands of qubits? Are you eager to contribute to our LabOne Q software framework to improve user experience and integration with external frameworks?
For our R&D team in Zurich, we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer Quantum Computing.

Your responsibilities:

  • Build and ship features for LabOne Q end-to-end (design, implementation, testing, documentation).
  • Elevate the developer and user experience for teams operating large-scale hardware systems (including QPUs).
  • Design robust architectures, clean APIs, and integrations (e.g., Python SDKs, external frameworks).
  • Drive performance, scalability, and reliability; profile, optimize, benchmark.
  • Improve code quality and delivery with automated tests, CI/CD, and observability.
  • Debug complex issues across the stack (UI, services, drivers, data paths) and deliver fixes.
  • Collaborate with R&D and product on requirements, technical direction, and roadmap.

Your profile:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent experience; PhD welcome but not required.
  • 5+ years building production Python software: clean architecture, type hints, packaging, testing, and code reviews.
  • Strong API and integration skills (Python SDKs, REST/gRPC) with attention to reliability and backward compatibility.
  • Proficiency in concurrency and performance (asyncio/multiprocessing, profiling, optimization).
  • Solid engineering practices: automated tests, CI/CD, reproducible builds, and observability.
  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving across the stack; collaborative communicator.
  • Fluent in English.

  • Nice to have
  • Hardware/instrument control or real-time/embedded experience (e.g., VISA/SCPI, drivers).
  • Scientific computing (NumPy/SciPy), data streaming/queues, containers/orchestration.
  • Rust, C/C++ interop (pybind11/Cython) or GPU/accelerator experience.
  • Interest in quantum control/automation; familiarity with Qiskit/OpenQASM is a plus.

We offer a diverse work environment with an open and transparent company culture where personal development and team spirit forms the basis of our success. We thrive on cooperation and support distributed decision-making that allows everyone to take responsibility and generate substantial impact from the start and on many levels.

Now is a great time to join the team.
