This role is approved for Sponsorship and provides relocation assistance to Barcelona. This role is permanent/full-time and hybrid (Mondays & Thursdays in our office in Poblenou in Barcelona.

About the Sitter Experience Team:
As a member of the Sitter Experience team, you will be part of a dedicated group focused on making Rover the easiest way to find and book quality pet care. Our mission is to enhance the experience of our sitters, who are the sitters offering pet care services on our platform. We are committed to delivering a set of tools that empower sitters to manage their businesses effectively. This includes developing innovative solutions for preference management, calendar and availability, pricing and rates, and more. Our ultimate goal is to help sitters achieve their business objectives while ensuring the integrity of our platform and minimizing the risk of diversion. Join us in building user-friendly, cutting-edge features that will have a direct impact on the success of our sitters and the growth of our community.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has empathy for users and enjoys building customer-facing products that improve people's and pets' lives!
  • Brings their own unique background to the team, adding fresh ideas and perspectives.
  • Is able to take loose requirements, collaborate with others to determine what needs to be done, and drive a project forward.
  • Is eager to improve their craft as a software engineer and is excited to learn new technologies.
  • Is equally eager to share their knowledge and help foster a culture of learning.
  • Thrives in a heavily collaborative environment and has great mentorship skills.

Your Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience as a professional software developer
  • Experience building web and/or mobile applications
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies
  • Experience with technologies similar to Rover’s tech stack: React, React Native, Python, and Django
  • Experience leading complex projects on collaborative, cross-functional teams
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of relational databases and schema design
  • Passionate about automated testing, code quality, and general software engineering best practices.

  • You are meticulous about design and user experience because you want to deliver the best service to your customers.
  • You are used to working with different agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban/XP).
  • You love new challenges and are eager to solve new problems by applying analytical thinking.
  • You are business-fluent in written and spoken English (our engineering team is in Barcelona, but we work in English).
