- Build and operate scalable backend services in Node.js/TypeScript with additional exposure to Python
- Ship cloud-native systems on Kubernetes and major Cloud Services (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Set up and evolve CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions while maintaining a high testing standard (unit, integration, e2e)
- Debug and improve distributed systems in production with strong observability practices
- Learn and apply VoIP telephony fundamentals (SIP, RTP, etc.) to power real-time communication features
- Own roadmap items end-to-end and contribute to pragmatic, secure architecture decisions
- Design data models and drive database migrations and performance tuning for real-time workloads using PostgreSQL
- You have at least 5+ years of backend engineering experience
- You have the ability to design, build, and maintain scalable, resilient backend systems using Node.js/TypeScript with some Python
- You have proven experience deploying and operating services on Kubernetes within at least one major Cloud Service (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- You have experience with CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions) and maintain a strong testing culture (unit/integration/e2e)
- You have solid debugging skills for microservices and distributed systems
- You have working knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and schema design
- You have an interest in or exposure to VoIP telephony basics (SIP, RTP/SRTP, SBCs, SIP trunks)
- You have experience with real-time communication systems (WebRTC, streaming, etc.)
- You have worked with event-driven architectures and message brokers (Kafka/RabbitMQ/NATS/Redis Streams)
- You are familiar with software design patterns; Domain-Driven Design is a plus
- You have experience with PostgreSQL (migrations, EXPLAIN/ANALYZE, indexing strategies, connection pooling) and Redis (caching, short-lived state, queues)
