Position Description:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Software Engineer to work on our Directories Integration team with focus on enhancing and managing Active Directory (AD) connectors. This feature allows customers to integrate their on-prem AD instances to seamlessly integrate with Okta and manage services for authentication, importing, synching and provisioning identities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the AD-Okta integration runs smoothly, securely, and efficiently, supporting our organization's identity management and access control needs. You will be working in a well-supported environment with a group of highly talented Engineers. The team has full ownership of their domain, which includes everything from design to production deployment. 

The ideal candidate will be naturally curious and has experience building software systems to manage and deploy reliable and performant infrastructure and product code at scale on a cloud infrastructure.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement features on our Active Directory (AD) agent with Okta, ensuring smooth data synchronization and secure communication between both platforms.
  • Configure and maintain AD integration solutions, including authentication, user provisioning, de-provisioning, and synchronization between AD and Okta.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AD and Okta integration, such as user access issues, sync failures, and other identity management challenges.
  • Work closely with the security and IT infrastructure teams to ensure AD and Okta integration aligns with security best practices and compliance standards.
  • Monitor and optimize performance of the AD agent, ensuring high availability and scalability.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather requirements, provide solutions, and drive ongoing enhancements and optimizations.
  • Create and maintain documentation on configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides for AD and Okta integration.
  • Provide technical support and training to internal teams regarding AD and Okta integration and its functionalities.
  • Keep up to date with industry best practices and new features in both Active Directory and Okta to continuously improve integration.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of software development experience building highly-reliable, mission-critical software
  • Proven experience with Active Directory (AD), including experience with group policies, AD architecture, user management, and directory services.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented and scripting languages (e.g., C#, .Net, Java, PowerShell) for automating AD and Okta processes.
  • Knowledge of security protocols (SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect) and identity management best practices.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, IAM (Identity Access Management), and security compliance (e.g., GDPR) is a plus.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in agile environments.

Nice to haves:

  • Hands-on experience with Okta Identity Management platform, including provisioning, de-provisioning, and configuring Single Sign-On (SSO).
  • Experience with server-side technologies including caching, asynchronous processing, and multi-threading
  • Experience with UI development or javascript frameworks
  • Microsoft Azure management APIs, ADFS, Office 365 or Microsoft’s Directory Synchronization Tool 
  • Experience with data stores, e.g. relational databases

 Education and Training:

  • B.S. Computer Science or related field
