Senior Software Engineer (StubHub, Inc., Los Angeles, CA)
Design and maintain core engineering infrastructure, including shared frameworks, internal platforms, and foundational system components used across development teams (20%). Develop and improve enterprise-level architectural patterns that support system scalability, reliability, and maintainability (15%). Build and refine shared services and backend infrastructure that enable consistent service-to service communication and system integration (10%). Review system designs across teams to ensure alignment with established architectural standards and performance requirements (5%). Identify structural system limitations and implement infrastructure-level improvements to enhance stability and efficiency (5%). Develop automation tools and internal utilities that streamline deployment, monitoring, and operational workflows (10%). Improve system resiliency through enhancements to fault tolerance, observability, and performance optimization (10%). Contribute to infrastructure modernization efforts by refactoring legacy components and improving platform consistency (5%). Document and promote engineering standards related to infrastructure design and system reliability (5%). Support teams in adopting shared platform components and infrastructure best practices (15%). Telecommuting may be permitted up to 2 days a week. When not telecommuting, must report to StubHub Inc. at 1901 Avenue of the Stars, Century City, Los Angeles, CA 90067. Salary: $94,973-$250,000 per year.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, plus 2 years as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or any occupation, job title, position performing software development.
Must also have experience in the following: 2 years of professional experience developing robust, mission-critical systems using programming languages (including C/C++, Java, C#, Rust, React, and OOP language); 2 years of professional experience designing and optimizing distributed systems, including microservices architectures built with Java and Spring Boot, implementing Redis-based caching strategies, and leveraging Kafka for event-driven message queuing; 2 years of professional experience analyzing and enhancing system scalability, reliability, and performance metrics; 2 years of professional experience designing and developing solutions to complex problems with significant business impact; 2 years of professional experience interacting systems with a broader production environment including dependencies and platform primitives; and 2 years of professional experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including software engineers, product managers, platform engineers, data scientists, data engineers, and analytics engineers.

The anticipated gross base pay range is below for this role. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and competencies. Base annual salary is one component of StubHub’s total compensation and competitive benefits package, which includes equity, 401(k), paid time off, paid parental leave, and comprehensive health benefits.
