Okta is seeking a Documentation Tools Engineer who implements changes to support our information architecture, build, and publishing processes. You will support the technical writers who develop content for Okta’s suite of products by implementing tooling and processes. You will also implement changes to improve the appearance and function of the help.okta.com and developer.okta.com sites.
Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
Work Mode: Hybrid (2-3 days Onsite per week)
Note: "This role requires in-person onboarding and travel to our Bengaluru, IN office during the first week of employment."
Key ResponsibilitiesA Documentation Tools Engineer at Okta is responsible for building, maintaining, and improving the infrastructure for technical documentation. This includes:
- Building and maintaining the documentation infrastructure and release processes.
- Supporting technical writers with best practices for content creation, like structured authoring and automation.
- Designing and managing the user experience for Okta's documentation sites, ensuring quality, content structure, and versioning for multiple products and global audiences.
- Planning and defining content projects, setting goals, and measuring their success using an Agile methodology.
Required Experience and Skills
The ideal candidate should have at least 4+ years of development experience and proficiency in the following skills:
- Programming languages: JavaScript/TypeScript and Python
- Technologies: React, OpenAPI, and the JAMstack architecture
- Frameworks: DITA, Redocly, and VuePress
- CI/CD tools: Experience with tools like GitHub, CircleCI, and Artifactory
- Must have very good verbal communication skills.
- A team player who enjoys collaborating with other developers.
- Experience working in an agile environment.
Education
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience is required for this role.
