About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer - IOS (IC3) to join Procore’s mobile engineering team, working on the Drawings tool and the Unified Viewer on iOS. In this role, you’ll drive the technical evolution of how field and office teams open, compare, and annotate large technical documents on their phones and tablets, often offline. Your primary goal is to design, build, and operate fast, reliable, offline-first solutions while using AI-assisted engineering practices to raise the speed and quality of delivery.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll partner with product managers, designers, and Android, web, and backend engineers to deliver features on a shared viewing and annotation foundation, and mentor team members on technical craft. Use your iOS architecture, concurrency, and performance expertise to turn heavy, disconnected content into a smooth experience for job sites worldwide. Join us to transform construction technology. Apply today!
This position reports into Mihir Patel and will be based in our Bengaluru Office. We’re looking for someone to join immediately.
Key Responsibilities
- Architectural Leadership: Design, build, and maintain iOS applications across the Drawings tool and the Unified Viewer. Lead complex architectural evolution while balancing operational delivery with long-term system performance.
- Feature Execution & AI Integration: Own feature lifecycles end-to-end, from technical design through staged rollout. Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while applying engineering guardrails to maintain code quality.
- Offline-First Data & Sync: Build and improve sync, download, and annotation flows that stay correct on poor connectivity, covering concurrent sync modes, accurate progress, durable upload queues, and local state that matches what’s on disk.
- Testing & Reliability: Define test strategies and acceptance criteria before implementation, including unit, snapshot, and concurrency-deterministic tests, to ensure graceful degradation and smooth feature flag rollouts.
- Observability & Performance: Instrument features with analytics and telemetry. Diagnose main-thread stalls, memory pressure, and crashes using Instruments and crash reports, and fix them at the root cause with measured results.
- Technical Clarity & Documentation: Document technical decisions, keep module boundaries and routing conventions consistent, and align with Android and web on shared contracts such as annotation geometry.
- Mentorship & Quality: Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through detailed code reviews, architectural guidance, and best practices in modern iOS development.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: 5+ years of professional iOS development in Swift, shipping and maintaining a large production app.
- Tech Stack Expertise: Strong UIKit and SwiftUI, deep Core Data knowledge (context and queue discipline, fetched results controllers, batching), and Swift concurrency (actors, Sendable, main-actor isolation) alongside Combine.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, a related STEM discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Engineering Impact: Track record of building offline-first or sync-heavy features, including cancellation, prioritisation, and failure handling, and of improving reliability and performance in a large modular codebase.
- Problem Solving & Communication: Strong debugging and profiling skills, and the ability to explain complex designs clearly to cross-functional partners.
- Mindset: Adaptable and growth-oriented, comfortable working across legacy and modern code and across product domains.
- Preferable: Experience with PDF or document rendering SDKs, canvas or coordinate-space math (rotation, zoom), deep linking and QR scanning, SQLite and full-text search, iPad multi-window layouts, or Objective-C. A background in construction or field-work software is a plus.
