Job Description


Senior Software Engineer (iOS) will shape the technical direction of our team, partnering with Team Leaders and senior technology leaders to define strategic roadmaps and prioritise initiatives that deliver business outcomes.

The Senior Software Engineer (iOS) is responsible for providing technical leadership and subject-matter expertise, making technical decisions, and ensuring quality and efficiency in project execution. They help to make architecture 'real' for teams, within and outside their area, by defining technical blueprints and patterns. They use their deep, specialist technical knowledge to coach and upskill others, contributing to the community of practice across the Technology organisation.

This role sits within the Resi Consumer Business Line and is embedded within the Property Research App team which is responsible for building the native experience that provides consumers insights about all thing’s property.

What you’ll do

  • Drive the technical direction of your squad, ensuring solutions are scalable, resilient, and aligned to the broader technology strategy.

  • Lead the design and implementation of architecture patterns, turning technical vision into practical, high-quality solutions.

  • Own the health and performance of services, proactively identifying opportunities to optimise systems and reduce technical risk.

  • Champion engineering excellence through strong testing, documentation, code quality, and continuous improvement of SDLC practices.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and lead innovation initiatives that enhance platform capabilities and business outcomes.

  • Mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and high performance.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to drive technical alignment, delivery outcomes, and knowledge sharing.

  • Act as a key technical advisor for your squad, providing technical leadership, delivery guidance, risk management, and business-focused decision making.

Ideally, you’ll have

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience developing native iOS applications, with a proven track record of delivering scalable mobile solutions.

  • Experience leading the successful delivery of major mobile features within high-performing engineering teams.

  • Strong background building customer-facing or enterprise-grade applications in Agile environments.

  • Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and contributing to engineering excellence through improved practices and processes.

  • Proven ability to collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering stakeholders to shape technical roadmaps and outcomes.

  • Deep expertise in Swift, iOS SDK, SwiftUI, UIKit, and modern architecture patterns such as MVVM, VIPER, or TCA.

  • Strong understanding of mobile performance optimisation, testing practices, API integration (REST/GraphQL), and microservices-based architectures.

  • Proficiency with modern development tools and practices, including Git, CI/CD pipelines, accessibility standards, and mobile best practices.
