Job Description

The team is building a robust control framework to ensure the entire Wise product portfolio is covered with essential screening checks and prevent onboarding of sanctioned individuals,  organisations and politically exposed people. We ensure that associated risks are thoroughly mitigated and that controls are functioning effectively.

We are scaling our operations team and developing solutions to support them, ensuring that alerts are accurately checked and fully auditable. We are enhancing the customer experience, making it easy and convenient for customers to provide the necessary information and documents.

You'll work directly with our back-office and compliance teams to understand how they work and what challenges they face. Then you'll redesign and build better internal tools for case handling and management - tools that are easy to use, efficient, and can grow with us.

Your work will improve both our internal processes and what customers experience, making a real difference to how smoothly we operate. You'll also team up with our regional and growth teams to make FinCrime and screening tools easier to implement across all our markets. 

Our main vision points are:

  • Run comprehensive screening checks across all products and use cases

  • Ensure an invisible and frictionless experience for our customers

  • Near-real time performance requirements for data processing

  • Automation of manual processes: if some process logic can be described, it can be automated

 

Qualifications

What does it take?  

  • A strong product mindset, you prioritise work with the customers and operational teams in mind and make data-driven decisions

  • Great communication skills and the ability to articulate complex, technical concepts to non-technical audience

  • You have 7+ years of Java 8+ knowledge, experience with Spring framework, event streaming platforms (e.g. Kafka) and microservice best practices

  • Experience working with relational databases, query optimisation and designing schemas

  • You enjoy writing testable code

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines

  • Hands on knowledge of system integration patterns

  • You believe in and follow best coding practices, code reviews and open feedback

  • Experience with React or another modern frontend framework is a nice-to-have bonus

  • You’ll understand the reasons behind problematic payments, customer difficulties and how to go about solving them

  • You’ll raise the automation level to enable scaling of screening solutions

  • You’ll understand our customers and the impact our product makes in their lives

  • You’ll identify technical challenges and opportunities and help us build a world class money transfer product
