About the role

Team you will be working with: GetPaid Formats

The GetPaid team is dedicated to creating seamless and efficient solutions for customers to receive money directly into their Wise accounts. We focus on developing innovative products that cater to both businesses and consumers, ensuring they have access to convenient and reliable payment methods. 

You will be working in products like our Payment Links, Invoice and QuickPay, as more to come, as well as our in-network payment method: Pay With Wise. Our goal is to make  receiving money internationally as cheap and convenient as possible
 

How we work

The GetPaid Formats team is part of the Global Product tribe, dedicated to enabling customers to receive money seamlessly and efficiently into their Wise accounts. We build innovative payment products that serve both businesses and consumers, creating convenient and reliable ways to get paid internationally.

Our team is focused on building a great Acquiring experience for our business customers. To achieve this, we prioritise projects using a mix of data and intuition, focus on good execution and learn from our mistakes.
 

What will you be working on?

As a Senior Backend Engineer in the team, you will help drive the team's most critical projects, will help define the technical vision for our domain, will mentor and guide more junior engineers. You will also collaborate with PM and Engineer Lead to build the team roadmap, making sure we are delivering value to customers.

You will help us build the solutions for customers to integrate Wise into their website so they can take payments. You will also help us improve our Invoice and Payment Link product, which has more than 20k active customers and growing.

Qualifications

What do you need?

We are fully aware that it is uncommon for a candidate to have all skills required and we fully support everyone in learning new skills with us. So if you have some of those listed below and are eager to learn more we do want to hear from you!

  • Strong proficiency in backend programming languages like Java, Python or Go.
    In-depth knowledge of database systems, including both SQL and NoSQL databases.

  • Expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs, as well as asynchronous systems

  • Experience working with distributed systems and building financially correct system using distributed system patterns

  • Experience working in product-led companies, with a strong product mindset that prioritises user needs and business goals.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to break down complex problems into shippable milestones that deliver value fast.

  • Curiosity and drive for continuous learning and improvement

  • A strong product mindset and passion for user experience, you prioritise work with the customers in mind and make data-driven decisions to fix customer pain-points

  • Knowledge of Java and Spring boot and experience with a messaging system, like Kafka, is a plus

  • Being part of the on-call rotation for our critical services and helping the team improve it, normally being on-call every 6-10 weeks.
