Your Opportunity
Production Engineering is a platform team within our Cloud Platform Services organization charged with end to end platform automation and observability. The team is responsible for automated provisioning and decommissioning of complex cloud environments, as well as other platform-wide activities.
Our team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer who will both collaborate with other engineers as well as being a strong individual contributor. This position will report directly to the Engineering Manager.
What You’ll Do:
- Design and develop software to automatically create, scale, and decommission cloud environments.
- Diagnose and solve problems in high throughput services and distributed systems including taking care of coordination, concurrency, and resource efficiency.
- Build platform-wide observability focused on informing capacity, costs, and revealing our true customer experience.
- Effectively collaborate with team members as well as the broader engineering organization.
Your Qualifications****Must-have:
- Meaningful experience with large scale, distributed software development efforts, including solving problems of dependency management, code consistency, and testing.
- Extensive hands-on experience and proficiency in one or more of the following: Go, Java, and/or Python.
- 3+ years of experience with cloud (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP) infrastructure and services.
- Exposure to CI/CD/DevOps, Terraform, Docker, and monitoring technologies.
- Ability to take initiative and work through various product development stages, scoping work to deliver value iteratively, making meaningful design decisions, and driving work to completion.
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.
- Experience working with Kubernetes (k8s) including building custom operators.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Kafka or other data pipeline technologies
- Experience in Site Reliability, Security, or Production Operations.
- Experience defining and applying an IAM strategy (RBAC policies, SSO, MFA, etc.) across a variety of users and services.
