We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Software Engineer - Backend to join the fully remote Engineering team at Feedonomics. You will be working with a highly collaborative and cross-functional Backend Engineering team to deliver and scale core infrastructure components and services that power our robust, high-performance, data-intensive SaaS platform.

Work Authorization:

Commerce does consider visa sponsorship on a case-by-case basis for certain Engineering, Operations, and IT roles, this specific position has not been approved for work authorization sponsorship.

Unfortunately, we are not able to move forward with applicants on an OPT or H1B Visa, this also would include individuals currently applying for their I-140.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate on the architecture, design, and development of scalable and highly available applications and services

  • Solve complex infrastructure-related problems with code, developing and providing post-release support for scalable applications.

  • Identify and implement enhancements to DevOps practices and tooling, leveraging automation to enhance robustness of the CI/CD pipeline, thereby streamlining efficient application development and deployment

  • Drive technology design and articulate architecture solution options to the product owners and Engineering leadership

  • Conduct post-mortems to analyze and prevent repeat failures

  • Be a champion for Continuous Improvement in end-to-end infrastructure and systems

  • Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies and processes that solve concrete business problems

  • Become a domain expert who follows industry trends and applies best practices  and contributes towards continuous improvement of those practices

Who Are You:

  • 5+ years of programming experience in backend languages

  • Education: Preferred Minimum Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, SW, CE, MIS; or equivalent experience or completed either a comprehensive software engineering boot camp

  • 2+ years experience with GoLang (Strongly preferred), PHP, Python, Java or a similar programming language

  • 2+ years experience with MySQL or a similar technology

  • Strong understanding of database schema design, caching and scalability

  • Strong understanding of various communication protocols (TCP, RPC, etc)

  • Solid understanding of Distributed Systems

  • Experience in Caching technologies is a plus (e.g. Redis or Memcached)

  • DevOps experience preferred

  • Experience with Full-stack observability tools like New Relic is strongly preferred

  • Workable understanding of Linux operating systems Experience with modern CI/CD and containerization tools like Docker

  • Ability to perform time and memory complexity analysis

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

(Pay Transparency Range: $112,000.00 - $189,000.00)

The exact salary will be dependent on the successful candidate’s location, relevant knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
