Job Description:

BUILD SOMETHING BIGGER THAN YOURSELF

Technology is at the heart of Disney’s past, present, and future. Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is a global organization of engineers, product developers, designers, technologists, data scientists, and more, all working to build and advance the technological backbone of Disney’s media business worldwide.

We blend technology with creativity to build world-class products, enhance storytelling, and drive speed, innovation, and scalability for our businesses. We are storytellers and innovators—creators and builders, entertainers and engineers. We work across The Walt Disney Company’s media portfolio to strengthen the technology foundation and consumer touchpoints that serve millions of people

worldwide.

How you will contribute to our magical experience?:

This team develops software solutions that ingest, manage, and distribute content availability metadata across Disney’s portfolio of streaming applications. We own a suite of backend systems and frontend tools that provide visibility into—and control over—our content metadata. Working across both frontend and backend stacks, we integrate metadata with the broader Technology organization using

engineering best practices.

The Senior, Software Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Design and build robust software applications, applying software engineering best practices to deliver high-performance, maintainable solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners (Product, Engineering, and QA) to identify opportunities, business impact, and technical requirements
  • Partner with Program Managers to provide timely, detailed status updates, estimates, and delivery risks.
  • Improve system scalability and throughput to support high concurrency.
  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Build user-centric, high-quality products.
  • Provide rotational on-call support as needed.

What we need from you to be part of this story:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 4+ years of experience developing software products.
  • Experience with frontend UI development and proficiency in one or more general-purpose languages or UI frameworks (JavaScript, React, Angular).
  • Experience building API services in Java, Python, or another object-oriented language.
  • Advanced level of English (is a must).
  • Experience building highly available UIs with complex security requirements (is a plus)
  • Solid understanding of, and experience working in, complex distributed systems (is a plus)
  • Strong knowledge of web standards and emerging technologies (is a plus)
  • Understanding of source control concepts and systems, CI/CD pipelines, and Git (is a plus)

Additional Information:

At Disney, we believe it takes great people to create the memorable experiences, products and services our consumers know and love. We are a team of storytellers and hire under equal opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, disability and gender identity. We foster a corporate culture of belonging and inclusiveness, which empowers our staff and company to thrive. At Disney, everyone has the opportunity to speak up and participate, grow and share ideas.

“You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality.” Walt Disney
