Technical Leadership (The "Lead" Part)

  • Set the Tech Path with the CTO: You will work directly with the CTO to decide on the long-term frontend strategy and framework migrations.
  • Industrial-Scale Architecture: You are responsible for designing modular, micro-frontend, or monorepo architectures that ensure maintainability across large-scale production applications.
  • State Management and Data Flow: You will define and enforce the patterns for complex state management and API integration to ensure data remains consistent and reliable.
  • Performance and Asset Delivery: You will lead the strategy for code splitting, tree shaking, and CDN caching to ensure the product remains high-performance and responsive.
  • Security and Compliance: You are responsible for implementing frontend security best practices, such as Content Security Policy (CSP), and for protecting against XSS and CSRF attacks.
  • Modern Build Pipelines: You will oversee the CI/CD pipeline for frontend assets, ensuring automated testing and deployment workflows are robust and fail-safe.
  • Design System Governance: You will partner with UX to build and govern a scalable component library that meets strict WCAG accessibility standards across all suites.
  • Pod Lead: For a specific project, you will lead the project team. All technical decisions will be made by you.

Client and Communication

  • Client Consultation: You will attend client calls to lead technical discussions and explain how our frontend solutions solve their business problems.
  • Technical Correspondence: You will respond to emails about technical queries, ensuring clear, professional communication with both clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Strategic Collaboration: You will partner with Design and Backend teams to ensure we ship fast, reliable, and accessible experiences.

Technical Skills

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance frontend applications using modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular.
  • Translate UI/UX designs, wireframes, and product requirements into clean, responsive, and accessible user interfaces.
  • Collaborate closely with backend engineers, product managers, UX/UI designers, and QA teams to deliver seamless end-to-end user experiences.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, following best practices and coding standards.
  • Optimise applications for maximum performance, cross-browser compatibility, and responsiveness across devices.
  • Lead and contribute to frontend architecture decisions, ensuring scalability and long-term maintainability.
  • Conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and promote a culture of engineering excellence.
  • Integrate frontend applications with RESTful APIs, GraphQL services, and third-party libraries.
  • Implement state management solutions, component libraries, and reusable UI patterns.
  • Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Identify and resolve frontend bugs, performance bottlenecks, and usability issues.
  • Work closely with QA to support testability, resolve defects, and ensure high-quality releases.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, build processes, and frontend deployment workflows.
  • Stay up to date with emerging frontend technologies, frameworks, and best practices, and recommend improvements where appropriate.

Professional Experience

  • Strong experience working with RESTful APIs, including API integration, error handling, and data management using tools such as Postman for testing and validation.
  • Proficiency in modern frontend frameworks and libraries such as React, Vue, or Angular, with hands-on experience in building scalable applications.
    Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles, design patterns, and core software engineering concepts.
  • Experience with state management solutions (e.g., Redux, Zustand, Vuex) and component-based architecture.
  • Exposure to performance optimisation techniques, including load time improvement, code splitting, lazy loading, and browser performance profiling.
  • Familiarity with security best practices in frontend development, such as XSS prevention, authentication handling, and secure API communication.
  • Strong working knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI) to support automated builds and deployments.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code, with exposure to frontend testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Cypress).
  • Proven experience collaborating in Agile/Scrum environments, contributing to sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in frontend or full-stack development with a strong frontend focus.
