Overview
As the Senior Software Engineer for Scout Motor’s digital products, you will play a key role in the development and enhancement of our software products, from concept to deployment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement intuitive, performant, and accessible web interfaces—primarily for internal tools that support commercial operations and enterprise workflows. Some of the key products as part of the digital portfolio are internal web applications and dashboards, mobile and desktop applications, vehicle connectivity solutions, mapping services, production, inventory and planning optimization, servicing and repairs, and more. At the same time, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to be hands-on building core UI frameworks and shared components and will be directly responsible for the successful delivery of complex and large-scale technical efforts, as well as acting as a technical mentor and leader for other engineers.

- Work with engineers & technical leaders across the company to ship high-quality internal web applications on strong foundations that enable efficient operations and great user experiences
- Lead the architecture, design, and development of complex front-end systems, ensuring maintainability, scalability, reliability, and performance
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications, UX-friendly implementations, and deliverables
- Build and evolve shared UI components and patterns (design system), establish standards for accessibility, and ensure consistent interaction and visual quality across internal tools
- Integrate front-end applications with back-end services and identity systems (e.g., SSO) to provide secure authentication and authorization experiences across multiple internal web applications
- Implement best practices and standards for front-end development, including code reviews, testing, documentation, and CI/CD workflows
- Mentor and coach junior team members, providing guidance and support to help them grow and succeed
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, continuously learning and experimenting with new tools and techniques to improve our software development process
- Be responsible for the front-end applications and libraries owned by your team, including operational readiness and support expectations as needed
Location & Travel Expectations:
- This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Fremont, California.
- This role requires 1 day per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- Proficiency with modern JavaScript/TypeScript and a major front-end framework (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue)
- Strong fundamentals in HTML, CSS, and responsive design, with experience building accessible user interfaces (WCAG best practices)
- Experience integrating with APIs (REST/GRPC/GraphQL) and collaborating closely with back-end engineers on contracts, performance, and reliability
- Experience with front-end testing practices and tooling (unit, integration, and end-to-end testing)
- Strong understanding of front-end architecture, design patterns, performance optimization, and best practices
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a passion for finding elegant solutions to complex challenges

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $140,000.00 - $170,000.00
Initial California base salary range = $154,000 - $187,000
